OVERVIEW

SOX Governance is on a journey to maximize the value we bring to the organization by aligning an agile, externally-focused team with accelerated leveraging of innovative technology to drive more effective and efficient oversight of controls and to bring relevant, data-driven insights to our stakeholders.

In this role, you will collaborate across the Three Lines Model to ensure we're working holistically to maintain a strong control environment and will ideate and support implementation of new technologies into our controls methodology to drive efficiency and effectiveness and support the Accelerate strategy.

SOX Governance will provide you an opportunity for leadership development and exposure to many interconnected aspects of General Mills' global business operations. You will develop core capabilities around risk management, situational agility, partnership for impact, and data-driven decision-making.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead as the subject matter expert on Order to Cash, Trade, and Pricing SOX processes, owning end-to-end governance over these processes. This includes:
    • Partnering with the business on process validation and updates
    • Working with business partners to implement new or modified controls when new risks arise
    • Providing guidance to testers during SOX control testing
    • Investigating and preparing summaries of SOX deficiencies
    • Working with the external auditor as needed
  • Drive and contribute to strategic projects that advance our team's priorities including:
    • Championing continuous improvement within our SOX testing system (Workiva), identifying and implementing innovative uses of the software to mitigate risk and enhance efficiency
    • Researching and piloting the application of AI and advanced analytics to transform and optimize our SOX program.
    • Identifying opportunities for and implementing standardization and globalization of SOX controls
    • Consulting on controls impact of transformational business initiatives
  • Proactively build and leverage internal and external networks to stay current on emerging trends and risks within the audit and controls profession, translating insights into actionable improvements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Management Information Systems, Finance, or related fields
  • 3 or more years of work experience
  • Track record of exercising fiduciary responsibility, being accurate and detail oriented (Risk Management)
  • Proven ability to apply technical expertise to guide sound decisions and recommendations (Governance Expertise)
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, be proactive, respond quickly, and adjust to changes (Situational Agility)
  • Strong ability to influence and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders through clear and persuasive communication. (Partnership for Impact)
  • Strong critical thinking and ability to apply a risk-based lens to various situations.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 or more years of direct experience in SOX 404 internal controls and accounting principles
  • Experience using Workiva
  • Experience using Tableau or other data analytics tools
  • Big 4 or other Audit Firm Experience
  • CPA Certification
  • Master's in Accounting

  • International relocation or remote working arrangements outside of the U.S. will not be considered.

Salary Range



The salary range for this position is $81000.00 - $121700.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
