Hourly Pay Range:

$18.38 - $26.65 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Patient Support Assistant - Cancer Center
  • Location: Kellogg Cancer Center - Highland Park, IL
  • Full Time | 40 hours/week
  • Hours: Monday-Friday rotating open/close shifts, shifts will vary between Monday - Thursday from 6:45am - 6pm and Friday 6:45am - 5pm, no weekends or holidays
  • Travel Required: May float to Evanston or Glenbrook locations

A Brief Overview:

  • As a Patient Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of our patients. You will work collaboratively with nurses and other healthcare staff to provide essential non-clinical support, maintain a clean and organized patient environment, and assist with various patient care tasks.

What you will do:

  • Assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
  • Helping patients with mobility, including transferring and positioning in bed or chairs.
  • Providing emotional support and companionship to patients, actively listening to their needs and concerns.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable patient environment.
  • Changing bed linens and ensure rooms are tidy and well-organized.
  • Stocking and maintaining supplies in patient rooms.
  • Communicate effectively with nursing and medical staff to report any changes in a patient's condition or needs.
  • Assisting with patient documentation and record vital signs when necessary.
  • Safely transporting patients to various areas within the hospital, including diagnostic tests and procedures.
  • Adhering to hospital safety and infection control policies and protocols.
  • Assisting in the implementation of fall prevention measures.
  • Encouraging patients to participate in activities and therapies as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Promoting a positive patient experience through empathy and support.

What you will need:

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED, required. Associate's degree in health administration, preferred.
  • Experience: 1 year of related experience and/or training and previous experience in a healthcare or caregiving role, preferred.
  • Licensure:
  • Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), preferred.
