Summary:

The Senior IT Project Manager will lead and oversee complex IT projects within a behavioral health system, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA), and timely, cost-effective delivery. This role manages cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders to implement systems and technologies that enhance clinical workflows, patient care, and administrative operations. The ideal candidate brings deep project management expertise, a strong understanding of healthcare IT, and experience in behavioral health or mental health service environments. Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead end-to-end planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of multiple IT projects, including EHR implementations/upgrades, infrastructure enhancements, data integrations, and cybersecurity initiatives.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between IT, clinical teams, executive leadership, vendors, and other stakeholders.

  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines in collaboration with stakeholders and ensure alignment with business goals.

  • Develop detailed project plans, resource plans, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, HITECH, and behavioral health data standards.

  • Track and report project status, issues, and performance metrics to leadership and stakeholders.

  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and third-party services to ensure project deliverables meet requirements and SLAs.

  • Facilitate user training, change management, and system adoption efforts across clinical and administrative departments.

  • Mentor and support junior project managers and other IT team members.

  • Participate in strategic planning and help assess future technology initiatives and needs.

  • Continuously evaluate processes and suggest improvements to project management methodologies and IT service delivery.

Additional Job Description:

Qualifications Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in IT project management, with at least 2 years in healthcare, preferably in behavioral health, mental health, or social services environments.

  • Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare IT systems, including EHRs (e.g., Cerner, Epic, Netsmart, Credible, or similar behavioral health platforms).

  • Demonstrated understanding of regulatory compliance (HIPAA, HITECH) and privacy/security requirements in healthcare.

  • Experience managing vendors, contracts, and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, ServiceNow, Jira, Smartsheet, Asana).

  • PMP, PMI-ACP, or other relevant certifications preferred.

Education/Training Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or a related field

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly preferred.

  • Additional certifications in Agile, Scrum, or Lean Six Sigma are a plus.

  • This position does require you to reside in Wisconsin. Role is mostly remote with the requirement to occasionally come in 1-2 times per quarter.
