Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The New Advisor Development Consultant will onboard, train, coach, consult and develop new financial advisors in years 1-5, with a deep focus on our Associate Financial Advisors. The position will assist in the design, deployment and management the AFA training program and initiatives based on the changing complexity and needs of the business. The position will guide new advisors through business and practice management activities including but not limited to, asset gathering, sales, business planning, building a brand, effective communication, value proposition, segmentation and client service. In addition, the position will guide new advisors through the teaming lifecycle - considering teaming, joining a team and team health. The position will guide new advisors in their implementation of activity tracking and in creating, executing on and measuring the results of growth strategies. The position will assist in the development of workshops and other consulting, coaching and training activities as determined in partnership with New Advisor Development Senior Consultant.

What will you do?

Provide proactive and reactive coaching, consulting and training to new financial advisors (60%)

  • Coaching and guiding new advisors on skills and knowledge needed to begin and enhance their career as a financial advisor.
  • Serve as a mediator, facilitator and consultant with advisors and teams through a process which focuses on efficiency, growth, communication and leadership.
  • Work with others in the department, field leadership and regional consulting teams to identify and work with target new financial advisors.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for increased effectiveness and efficiency with new financial advisors and provide coaching related to those specific opportunities.
  • Provide direction and support in the onboarding and orientation of new financial advisors, items such as; licensing, training courses, documenting activities, policies, procedures, resources, etc.
  • Act as a resource to field leadership relative to new advisor business development.
  • Document activities and engagements.

Develop and lead workshops, calls and events (20%)

  • Lead, facilitate and deliver workshops and programs for new financial advisors.
  • Provide energy, excitement and motivation when hosting and facilitating new advisor training and development offerings.
  • Meet with and screen external partners including presenters, speakers, content providers
  • Ensure that all training programs and initiatives are marketed to the appropriate audiences in a way that drives engagement and adoption. Lead and provide consistent internal communication regarding training offered.

Develop, deliver and project manage training for key new advisor initiatives/programs (20%)

  • Work closely with other members of the Advice and Solutions team to share best practices and to discuss challenges and solutions.
  • Contribute to the use of metrics, benchmarks and regular reporting to track progress and business results for coaching engagements and other department initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to branch directors and complex directors on hiring, managing compensation, cultivating, motivating and coaching new financial advisors.
  • Provide guidance to teams and lead advisors on hiring, managing compensation, cultivating, motivating and coaching new financial advisors.
  • Partner with recruiting and field leaders on training, onboarding resources, policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the use of metrics, benchmarks and regular reporting to track progress and business results for coaching engagements and other department initiatives.
  • Represent the team in select corporate initiatives.
  • Contribute to regular department meetings and departmental improvement projects.
  • Other special assignments as needed.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Four-year college degree
  • Financial services or investment industry experience
  • 5+ years in a role that provides direct instruction or guidance to employees, such as training, coaching or business support
  • 5+ years of program or project management experience
  • Broad knowledge of RBC systems, processes and products or the ability to learn new systems quickly and independently
  • Proven dedication to and focus on client service and satisfaction
  • Strong project management & organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously with tight deadlines and competing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including being comfortable facilitating or speaking in front of large groups and influencing multiple levels within the organization
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proven presentation development and delivery skills
  • Ability to motivate others
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Dedicated team player, willing to assist where necessary to make the team successful
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating local and distance training events and programs.
  • Demonstrated success in managing comprehensive successful training initiatives and programs (i.e., budgets, programs, resources, vendors, etc.).
  • Demonstrated interpersonal effectiveness and negotiation skills working with high-level decision makers, vendors and/or other relevant partners.

The expected salary range for this particular position is $70,000-$130,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
