CNC Set-Up Operator - Vertical Machining Center

$17-$25.00 depending on experience
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled CNC Set-Up Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have experience setting up and operating vertical CNC machines, ensuring precise and efficient production of high-quality parts. Experience with Haas CNC machines is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understanding of working from customer blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Measuring, marking, and scribing dimensions and reference points on materials or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
- Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
- May verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
- Setting up and operating machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data
- May fit and assemble parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plate, surface table, hand tools, and power tools.
- Verifying dimensions and alignment of assembly, using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges and gauge blocks.
- Communicates with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities. Inspecting and measuring parts to gather statistical process control data.
- Load and align raw materials, tools, and fixtures for machining operations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine proper machine setup and operation.
- Perform trial runs and adjustments to ensure parts meet quality standards and tolerances.
- Monitor machine operation, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary corrections.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Maintain accurate production logs and documentation.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate any production concerns to the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Excellent Work History
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or vocational certification in machining is a plus.
- Prior knowledge running HAAS VMC controls.
- Understanding G -code and M-code.
- Ability to set-up, operate calibrate, and maintain machine tools. Setting-up production start to finish.
- Reading and interpreting technical drawing: Determine Machining processes and requirements. Knowledge of reading imperial & metric dimensions, GD&T a plus.
- Able to perform Vertical milling set-ups independently: Use of Jaws/vises, stops, indicating tooling in/probing.
- In depth knowledge and understanding of machining operations: Milling, hole drilling, circle interpolation, tapping, counter sinking & counter boring.
- In depth Knowledge of product quality issues. Work closely with quality, to ensure customer requirements.
- Machine products from the following materials: 300 series stainless steels, 5000 & 6000 series aluminum, A36, A572 HRPO, 1045, 1018 Materials.
- Ability to work effectively with team members.
- Mastercam Knowledge a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
