Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The RAPID division is the world leading provider of reticle inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry. The company provides inspection solutions to both the mask shops and the semiconductor fabs to ensure that lithography yields are consistently high thus enabling cost-effective manufacturing.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

In this dynamic role, the successful candidate will support the design/development, build, integration and testing of KLA's new metrology tools by working closely with more senior engineers in a collaborative cross functional environment. Most responsibilities will move across these aspects of tool development and build:

  • Design of sheet metal and machined components based on requirements and guidance from senior engineers.

  • 3D Modeling of electro-mechanical subassemblies in Creo and assisting with PowerPoint presentations that will be used for formal cross functional design reviews.

  • Ability to run thermal analysis, stress analysis, and determine resonance frequencies.

  • On-tool integration in Class 100 Clean room for mechanical components, subassemblies, cables, and electrical enclosures.

  • Create detailed mechanical design drawings using ASME Y14.5 and GD&T. Create assembly or installation drawings with exploded views.

  • Development of new procedures or modification of existing procedures to accurately describe step by step installation or removal of subassemblies. Assist with hand off and ECN releases to Manufacturing Team.

Having experience or capability in the following areas is strongly desired.

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or similar, with 3+ years relevant experience.

  • Capable of working with Creo and AutoCAD 2D.

  • Ability to redline procedures, drawings, and related build documentation, then process changes to the documentation in a controlled manner.

  • Ability to handle multiple assignments with a sense of ownership to drive work to completion.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Willingness to collaborate with subsystem owners to ensure technical requirements are met.

  • Participation in status meetings and design reviews to update progress, report issues, and provide technical advice.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some experience reading and understanding Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and Electrical Interconnect Diagrams (ICD).

  • Understanding of ECO process and typical product life cycle

  • Experience with development and build of large complex semiconductor equipment.

  • Understanding of basic design and function of Programmable Logic Controllers and AC or DC Power Distribution Units.

  • Basic knowledge and experience the machine design, materials for cleanliness and vacuum compatibility, sheet metal enclosures, motorized actuators, servo motors, stepper motors, controllers, drivers.

  • Cleanroom hands on experience and familiarity with cleanroom protocols.

  • Basic understanding of functionality of PLC Remote IO Racks and DC PDUs.

  • Comfortable with most aspects of machine design and development with minimal oversight.

These skills and capabilities are a plus
