Responsibilities

Peraton, a recognized leader in Cyber, Digital Transformation, Cloud, Operations, and Engineering, is seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Engineer, Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Software Support to support a world-wide national intelligence program.

Location: Mayport, FL and San Diego, CA

Travel Requirements: 50-75% OCONUS travel may be required.

Role & Responsibilities:

    Peraton is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Engineer to support a worldwide national intelligence program focused on Cyber Situational Awareness (SA), Cyber Command and Control (C2), Mission Assurance, and Homeland Defense.
  • This position provides engineering support within a DevSecOps environment, cloud architecture, cybersecurity, and rapid development of defensive cyber capabilities.
  • You will directly support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Dam Neck Activity (DNA), contributing to major Navy and Joint Force programs including Total Ship Computing Environment (TSCE), Atlanta Weapon System (AtWS), NAVSEA Red Team, National Cyber Range Complex (NCRC), training systems, and RMF support for EOD.

You Will:

  • Serve as an On-site Representative (OSR) providing administrative and technical support to NSWCDD DNA.
  • Conduct ship checks, attend local meetings, coordinate fleet schedules, and act as liaison to ship crews.
  • Support delivery of new TSCE baselines to the fleet, including coordination of MOAs and MOUs.
  • Develop ship inspection procedures, test procedures, and detailed ship check reports (including photos when permitted).
  • Perform AIT installations, removals, upgrades, overhauls, and provide technical assistance for systems, equipment, and alterations.
  • Coordinate with the Alteration Installation Team (AIT) to ensure all materials, instructions, and technical data packages are approved and installed correctly.
  • Follow shipboard protocol requirements and support underway periods as needed.
  • Maintain and manage multiuser systems, ensuring optimal performance and collaborating with network and IT teams.

You Need to Have:

  • Experience managing multiuser computer systems, monitoring performance, and configuring operating systems in missioncritical environments.
  • Strong background in system security administration, including user account management, system hardening, and security best practices.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, ship personnel, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience with a BS/BA degree, including demonstrated expertise in the following functional areas:
    • Computer security, military system specifications, and DoD cybersecurity policies.
    • National Cyber Range Complex (NCRC) and Total Ship Computing Environment (TSCE) program requirements, including mission needs, ship installation requirements, and shipboard protocols.
    • Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes and the implementation of cybersecurity and Information Assurance (IA) boundarydefense techniques.
    • Handson experience with IAenabled appliances and security technologies such as Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Switches/Routers, Cross Domain Solutions (CDS), EMASS, and Endpoint Security Solution (ESS).
    • Performing STIG implementation across systems and platforms.
    • Conducting vulnerability assessments using the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) tool.
      Remediating vulnerability findings, including applying vendor patches and updates on both Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Active DoD Secret level security clearance.
  • Current U.S. Passport or ability to obtain prior to start.

Travel Requirements:

  • 50-75% OCONUS travel may be required.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, or Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering.
  • MS and 8 years of experience as a professional Engineer.
  • Will have 10 years + experience analyzing log data, performing traffic analysis, executing audits, performing digital footprint and risk intelligence analysis, and possess the expertise to rectify any uncovered vulnerabilities.
  • DoD Top Secret security clearance is highly preferred.
  • One or more of the following cyber certifications:
    • OSCP; GIAC; GSOC; CompTIA CySA+; CISSP from ISC2

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
