Overview

The Communications Strategist serves as a trusted communications partner to internal department teams and senior leaders, supporting how Branch Operations engages, informs, and connects with its team members. This role will support a unified communications strategy grounded in quality, value, and standards. Assist in maintaining department-wide voice and branding while customizing routine to moderately complex communications for leadership and business partners. Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Subject matter expert within business area/specialization with understanding of interrelationships of different disciplines
  • Significant knowledge and understanding of risk-based auditing techniques and methodologies
  • Significant knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations, company policies, and industry best practices
  • Significant experience managing multi-faceted projects simultaneously that have cross-departmental impact
  • Develop cohesive communication strategies for important initiatives to produce effective and timely deliverables
  • Supports planning and execution of executive and strategy communications.
  • Consult and collaborate with clients and stakeholders across the organization to build relationships and provide guidance to effectively plan, compose and manage the preparation, design, production, and distribution of a wide variety of communications
  • Research, write, and support the development of talking points, scripts, emails, and speeches, presentations for internal and external communications for leadership
  • Assist in creating effective and compelling presentations, including PowerPoint development, scripting and talking points.
  • Developcommunication plans to ensure that project and campaign deliverables are met as well as align communications throughout credit union
  • Support planning and execution of executive-level engagement events, including business unit town halls, employee forums, and other leadership communications initiatives
  • Provide creative solutions for routine to moderately complex internal campaigns, strategies, and other initiatives
  • Ensure content accuracy and grammar consistency in style and image
  • Tailor communications by channel and according to strategy
  • Collaborate and assist with content recommendations input and/or makes recommendations for communications initiatives
  • Lead small to medium-scale projects
  • Assist with leading large-scale projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience in drafting and editing small to medium-scale communication campaigns
  • Demonstrated executive maturity and an ability to work effectively with senior executives
  • Familiar with change management principles and practices
  • Ability to collaborate tactfully with all levels of the work force and management to include Executive Leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and co-lead projects with significant impact
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced business environment and manage multiple projects concurrently and meet changing requirements and priorities to accomplish goals
  • Working knowledge of project lifecycles, project management methodologies, and business requirements analysis
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communications
  • Working knowledge of word processing, presentation/project management and spreadsheet software
  • Experience in organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in research, analytics, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective copywriting, editing and proofreading skills, including extensive print and online writing and editorial experience
  • Effective relationship-building skills
  • Effective presentation skills
  • Effective skill to successfully influence, lead and/or guide others towards goals
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism or related field or the equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
  • Required tool/system experience: Microsoft suite of tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Desired tool/system experience: Staffbase, AEM
  • Years of experience required: 5-7 years of experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as a speechwriter for high level executives
  • Working knowledge of Navy Federal products, services, programs, policies, and procedures
  • Working knowledge of Navy Federal's functions, philosophy, operations, and organizational objectives
