Program Coordinator (Multiple Positions)(Onsite)

The University of California, Merced is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The salary or hourly range the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $55,200 - $68,000.

These positions are a 5-month contracts with a possibility of extension.

As a seasoned, experienced professionals in K-14 academic preparation with the UC Merced, Center for Educational Partnerships (CEP), the coordinator works alongside the Program Director and Director to oversee the coordination of efforts at K-12 partnership sites. Collaborates with other higher education institutions and local organizations to propose and implement a wide-range of academic preparation programming. The K-14 Academic Prep Spec 3 will recommend, develop and oversee the implementation of district, student and parent centered services. Responsible for maintaining program visibility and collaborative relationships with K-12 and higher education institutions, community entities and other non-UC academic preparation programs. Manages program's curricular implementation and accountability framework. Responsible for the submission of quarterly, mid-year, and annual performance reports to corresponding stakeholders and funders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Under the direction of a Supervisor: Recruits and enrolls 6th - 12th-grade students for program participation. Provides academic development and support through program services tied to program outcomes/objectives. Strives to meet or exceed minimum program outcomes/objectives.

• Prepares summaries of each month's activities detailing results and an assessment of monthly efforts; Ensures that daily workshop, campus visit logs, surveys, evaluations, grades, and other data instruments are entered on time. Prepares reports and updates at the immediate supervisor's request.

• Assists with the development and implementation of college-going services and activities; organizes campus visits for students, parents, and educators; organizes workshops for students, parents, and educators; assists in the planning and implementation of academic preparation and parent activities and conferences; delivers admissions, personal statement, financial aid, test taking and other workshops as assigned; assists in the organization and implementation of personal and academic enrichment programs for students and parents; assists in the development and production of program publications.

• Maintains relationships with higher education institutions and community entities. Develops and maintains professional relations with educators to identify educationally disadvantaged students to receive academic preparation and parent services; acts as principal liaison to partner schools, including principals, head counselors, parents, and other key school personnel and/or assigned contacts regarding student and parent CEP programs; develops and maintains relationships with other UC/CSU/CCC programs including MESA, EAOP, AVID, Talent Search, CTFMS, Upward Bound, etc., as well as community-based organizations, civic groups, and private industry; acts as a resource for elementary, middle school and high school personnel and the public for inquiries regarding admissions, financial aid, housing, campus tours, and other related areas..

• Coordinates academies that provide in-depth educational support and resources to students, which may include Saturday work as well as transportation of students. Maintains accurate records and documentation of program activities and participant data. Monitors program budget and allocate resources efficiently. Stays current with education trends and best practices to improve program offerings.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited institution. (Required)

• Advanced degree in a related area from an accredited institution may be substituted for two years of required experience. (Preferred)

• Three years of directly related experience and/or experience and training combined. (Required)

• High School diploma and five years of progressively responsible related experience and/or combination of experience and training will be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population and sensitivity to culture, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status.

• Knowledge and understanding of K-14 education. (Preferred)

• Knowledge of higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid requirements, and the ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives. (Preferred)

• Experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged and academically at-risk students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers. (Preferred)

• Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts.

• Thorough knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements. (Preferred)

• Spanish speaking preferred. (Preferred)

• Able to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed.
