This Analytical Lab Manager will lead our Microscopy/Spectroscopy skill area across our North America labs (Cleveland and Minneapolis) and be responsible for setting our strategy in the areas of advanced analytical techniques across our lab network. They will also be responsible for leading our partnership with various business units to ensure communication, workflow, and collaboration are ongoing with our North American and global R&D teams.

Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. This role will be located at Sherwin-Williams Morikis Global Technology Center located at 6745 Miller Road, Brecksville, OH 44141.

1. Lead the North American Microscopy/Spectroscopy skills and coordinate all related development activities (product development, problem-solving, field issues, etc.) including areas of focus of technical development in our analytical network of labs, etc.

2. Define future strategy with regards to Microscopy/Spectroscopy and/or Mass Spectrometry analysis for Sherwin-Williams and determine location of personnel resources and equipment to best support our businesses and key stakeholders.

3. Establish and build relationships with our R&D leadership and key technical stakeholders across the NA businesses. With input from key leadership, prioritize projects to impact key business needs.

4. Leading and supporting the identification, development and deployment of new methods in the area of critical advanced analytical techniques. Establish and build relationships with external partners (universities, suppliers, instrument manufacturers, etc.) to compliment internal capabilities and enhance results.

5. Partner yourself and team members with the Materials Science group to provide mechanistic insight to link structure and physical properties for performance in coatings.

6. Mange, mentor and train other analytical chemists in the lab. Be a role model for other lab personnel in other global analytical laboratories.

7. Support group members and collaborate with other NA Skill areas (Chromatography, Elemental/Physical, and Materials Science) to ensure support for problem-solving, field complaints, manufacturing issues, and new development activities for critical business activities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
* Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* 5 years of supervisory experience (project or people management)
* Technical understanding and knowledge in analytical chemistry techniques including advanced electron microscopy, molecular spectroscopy and/or HR mass spectrometry
* Understanding of chemical mechanisms which impact understanding of coatings and coatings technology.
* Understanding of problem-solving paint formulations and raw materials understanding for analysis of these and similar materials.
* In depth knowledge of polymers and the analytical techniques to understand molecular structure.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* 10 years of analytical lab experience using advanced with two years of managerial experience in an analytical lab environment.

Travel Requirements: 20%

This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H-1B visa.

Successful candidate will be required to sign an Employee Restrictive Covenant Agreement where permitted by law.
