General Purpose

The Appraisal Manager works closely with the Appraisal Review Department staff, overseeing all aspects of managing the real estate appraisal process.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Knows, follows, and implements Loan Policy, Appraisal Department procedures, USPAP, Interagency Guidelines, and other appraisal regulations.
  • Monitors federal and state regulations as pertain to real estate appraisal.
  • Ensures quality control of the appraisal/valuation process.
  • Works with vendors, appraisers, and bank personnel to coordinate the real estate appraisal process, ensures timely completion, and credible valuation results.
  • Orders appraisals, answers questions, reviews completed appraisal reports and resolves issues that may occur through the process.
  • Reviews complex appraisals.
  • Manages Reconsideration of Value (ROV) requests.
  • Recruits, trains, develops, and retains Appraisal Review Department staff.
  • Manages approved appraiser list, including additions and removals to the list.
  • Updates the Appraisal Department procedures and Lender Guidance.
  • Knows the importance, as well as the duties/responsibilities, of the Appraisal Review Department staff.
  • Ensures Appraisal Review staff are cross trained to assist other positions throughout the department.

  • Regular and reliable attendance is required as an essential function of this position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Duties



  • Works closely with staff to develop the team, mentor, provide support, and answer questions.
  • Serves as a leader and a role model, exhibits strong teamwork and a positive attitude.
  • Monitors output of employees.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:



  • Expert knowledge USPAP and Interagency Appraisal and Evaluation Guidelines.
  • Ability to read and understand leases and other legal documents.
  • Expert knowledge of cost, sales comparison, and income capitalization approaches.
  • Expert knowledge of real estate appraisal valuation principles and procedures.
  • Ability to review complex discounted cash flow analyses.
  • Expert knowledge of the markets served by Alpine Bank.
  • Ability to research market data including subject property, comparable sales and comparable rent data.
  • Ability to analyze market data to support market value estimates.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, accurate, and convincing reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage relationships and communication with the Bank's internal departments, appraisers, and other vendors.
  • Understands business implications of decisions.
  • Effortlessly works in a fast-paced environment with proven professional growth.
  • Gives and receive mentoring in a mature and open manner.
  • Ability to share expertise with others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Works as a team player, as well as team leadership.
  • Proficient with computer applications including Adobe, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Technologically adept, willing and able to learn new systems.
  • This position may require relocation.


Education or Formal Training:



  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required.
  • Certified General Appraiser License required.
  • MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute is preferred.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Colorado Driver's License is required.


Experience:



  • Minimum of eight (8) years of appraisal and/or appraisal review experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years management experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.



Working Conditions

Working Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment, that allows for a hybrid schedule, to include remote work and in office, but can change at any time at management's discretion. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and multifunction printers. Travel to conferences, meetings, and branch locations is necessary from time to time. Evening and weekend hours should be anticipated.

These are representative of those which must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Good eyesight and hand/finger dexterity are required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to remain calm and professional with upset customers may be necessary. Repetitive motion likely. Employee may have to lift up to 25 pounds.

Starting Rate of Pay is from $100,000.00 to $150,000.00 per year, depending on experience.
