Overview

UnityPoint Health is seeking a Program Manager System Nursing to join our team! This position provides operational execution for System nursing initiatives that advance nursing excellence, care delivery transformation, and workforce optimization across all markets. The Nursing Program Manager serves as a System-level resource to system and market level nursing leadership, driving alignment of nursing strategy with organizational goals related to quality, safety, experience, growth, and sustainability. Reporting to the System Chief Nurse Officer, this role partners closely with Market CNOs, nursing executives, System Services leaders, Nursing Operations, System Quality & Nursing Excellence, Market leaders, Accreditation, and Patient Experience to design, implement, and sustain high-impact nursing priorities and initiatives that strengthen nursing performance and patient outcomes across the system.

Location: Applicants must reside with the UPH footprint of Iowa, Illinois, or Wisconsin

Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Responsibilities

Nursing Operations Support:

  • Supports the development, execution, and evaluation of system nursing strategic initiatives aligned with system priorities for nursing excellence, workforce performance, quality, safety, and care delivery innovation.
  • Serves as a key nursing strategy resource for markets, providing consultative leadership, structure, and execution support for complex nursing programs and transformation efforts.
  • Partners with the System and Market CNOs to translate nursing strategy into actionable system and market-level initiatives with measurable outcomes.
  • Support the alignment of nursing practice, professional development, clinical operations, and technology initiatives across all affiliates to promote consistency, reliability, and high performance.
  • Leads program planning, execution, and performance management using established enterprise project management methodologies, ensuring initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Supports the development and monitors nursing-focused performance metrics related to quality, safety, experience, workforce, and operational effectiveness; prepares executive-level reports and presentations for nursing leadership.
  • Serves as a connector between nursing leadership, system services, and market teams to accelerate adoption of best practices, reduce variation, and support system nursing goals.
  • Represents system nursing in strategic initiatives involving Quality & Safety, Strategy, Finance, Operations, Workforce, and Technology to ensure nursing priorities are embedded in organizational planning.
  • Oversee project communication strategies, including verbal and written materials.

Program Management:

  • Partner with relevatnt business, clinical and department leadership stakeholders to align programs and their projects with system strategy and business/clinical/department goals.
  • Ensure successful adoption and change management within and across programs and projects.
  • Provides program leadership for large, strategic, and/or cross-functional initiatives by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to define program scope, change management plans, communication plans, benefit realization plans, and to manage project timelines and deliverables.
  • Builds positive working relationships across the organization; engages effectively with staff, management, and senior leadership to ensure the success of the program and project-related initiatives.
  • Partners with operational leaders and sponsors to ensure program and project alignment with business needs, productive working relationships, and open lines of communication.
  • Provides coordination and/or facilitation role within applicable governance forums, assigning leadership with organization of programs and projects to align with system strategy and objectives.
  • Develop executive-level presentations and program status updates for key leadership, stakeholders, as well as operational and executive sponsors.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing required
  • Masters in Nursing preferred

Experience:

  • 2 years of nursing experience required
  • 2 years of project management or process improvement with proven success of project implementation required
  • Managing large, complex projects within a healthcare setting required

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse required
  • Nationally Certified Nurse preferred
  • Six Sigma Certification preferred
