State Department Federal Credit Union is seeking a Lending Development Officer to source, develop, and process consumer loan applications from initiation to completion. The role includes verifying applicant information, ensuring compliance with lending regulations, and coordinating loan approvals and disbursements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Proactively identify and engage potential borrowers through outbound calls, emails, and community outreach.
  • Reviews applications and all supporting loan documentation for completeness and accuracy. Areas included but not limited to (employment, occupancy status, fraud alerts, payment calculations, credit score, credit tier, loan pricing, collateral, co-applicant information (if any), and credit report). Obtains all necessary information before sending applications to an Underwriter for a decision. Obtains any additional information when requested/required by the Underwriter.
  • Completes and enters loan applications into SDFCU's lending system. Makes necessary changes based on product selection and establishes repayment schedules and methods.
  • Conduct credit checks and evaluate applicant creditworthiness. Make recommendations and comments on applications that will assist the Underwriters with loan decisions.
  • Cross sell other Credit Union products and services, particularly loan services and insurance products.
  • Logs all member contact information and any pertinent loan information in the loan memo fields within SDFCU's lending system.
  • Handles high volume of contact from members by phone, email, or fax regarding approvals, counteroffers, and denials. Discusses any underwriter requirements and/or special conditions of the loan with the members and works toward solutions. Provides excellent member service to applicants throughout the loan process.
  • Contacts members and creditors to obtain payoffs on any debt being paid and to make final disbursement arrangements.
  • Verifies all loan information, documentation and disclosures for accuracy and completeness. Make all necessary changes prior to loan disbursement.
  • Process loan disbursements via deposit, ACH transfers and loan checks to creditors or members.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Competencies:



  • A two-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Basic knowledge of lending laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, work independently and to prioritize work.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Minimum two years of customer service experience with proven sales and service skills.
  • Minimum one year of experience handling a high volume of phone calls.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet production goals and quality standards.
  • Must be able to handle a high volume of work with a high degree of accuracy.
