Inside the Role

The Manager of Portfolio and General Accounting is responsible for directly leading portfolio and general accounting activities for DTFS US and Canada, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance. This role is responsible for overseeing all accounting activities related to DTFS Contract Management System (CMS) for financial products including loans, leases, floorplan financing, and capital loans. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, strong internal controls, and alignment between operational contract data and the general ledger.
In addition, this position is responsible for accounting processes related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, intercompany accounting, fixed assets, and shared services. This role will champion process improvements, leverage technology, and optimize outsourcing partnerships to enhance efficiency and scalability.
Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this position collaborates across the Daimler Truck organization - including Finance, IT, Operations, and other departments - as well as with external business partners and customers. Key areas of focus include system integration initiatives aimed at automating shared back-office environments. To succeed in this role, you should bring strong technical accounting expertise, a focus on process optimization, and the ability to build lasting relationships within and outside the organization. You will be analytical, decisive, knowledgeable, with exceptional leadership and communication skills. Finally, you will coach and develop accounting team members, fostering a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, integrity, and continuous learning.

Inside the Role

Portfolio Accounting

  • Lead and oversee accounting for loan, lease, floorplan, and capital loan portfolios within the Contract Management System.

  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to contract accounting ensuring all accounting processes associated with CMS (ALFA portfolio system, dealer reserve, funding clearing, and EFT) activities are recorded accurately and timely.

  • Analyze the CMA (ALFA) trends and yields for financial statement completeness.

  • Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

  • Ensure timely resolution of reconciliation differences between CMS data, sub-ledgers, and the general ledger and maintain compliance with ICS standards.

  • Assist in the design, testing and implementation of CMS (ALFA) and related system changes, enhancements, and company-wide initiatives.

  • Oversee projects, supporting staff, serviced asset accounting, and external audit requests.

General Ledger Accounting

  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting processes related to accounts payable, expense reporting, accounts receivable, intercompany accounting, fixed assets, shared services, unclaimed property for the US and CA to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

  • Ensure timely resolution of reconciliation differences and maintain compliance with ICS standards.

  • Oversee projects, supporting staff, and external audit requests.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Lead design, testing, and implementation of accounting related systems and enhancements.

  • Drive automation and process standardization to improve efficiency and control integrity.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead, motivate and develop employees as outlined in our Great Leadership Behaviors using our Impact Navigator tools.

  • Provide oversight to all team members with a focus on professional development through one-on-one discussions and continuous feedback.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to provide guidance on accounting treatment and policy interpretation, while developing a clear understanding of the story behind the financial results to deliver meaningful insights.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field

  • Minimum of 8 years of accounting experience

  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and regulatory reporting frameworks

  • Proven leadership and people management skills

  • Ability to lead in a complex global business environment and work across all levels of management and external partners

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making capabilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Master's degree in accounting, finance, or related field

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license

  • Professional audit experience

  • Experience with SAP or comparable ERP systems; financial automation tools

  • Industry experience in financial services and commercial vehicle manufacturing
