The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for the Collaborative Inpatient Medicine Service (CIMS) is an independent Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) and a professional healthcare provider who works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care to adult inpatients.



The APP provides care across general medicine, addiction medicine, and the Intermediate Care Unit (IMC). Responsibilities include performing admissions, delivering day-to-day inpatient management, and coordinating and completing patient discharges. The APP position is primarily day shift, with rotations through nights and weekends.



The APP has the opportunity to perform procedures for the general medicine service if desired; however, procedural work is not required.



The APP is expected to attend at least one divisional meeting per month.



All APPs must maintain a current collaborative agreement (as applicable by role and state regulation) and complete all hospital credentialing and privileging requirements. This includes verification and maintenance of required clinical skills, scope of practice, and demonstrated competencies appropriate to inpatient medicine practice. APPs must maintain active licensure and national certification, meet continuing medical education (CME) requirements, and comply with institutional policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Annual performance evaluations are required to ensure continued compliance with role expectations and hospital standards.



Shifts: Full Time (40 hours); 8 and 12-hour rotating shifts; weekends; on-call



Required Skills:



  • Ability to incorporate into practice theoretical concepts and advanced clinical skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary health care team members.
  • Analytical ability is necessary to diagnose patients and to develop and implement plans of action for long and short term management of acute and chronic health.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary health care team to enhance collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in order to provide information to patients and health care personnel.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fluid, dynamic, and rapidly changing environment.



Qualifications:



  • Completion of a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a Physician Assistant Program or MSN/DNP.
  • Licensure: Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner is required, along with CDS (prescription) and DEA (narcotics) licensure
  • Current BLS Healthcare provider and ACLS certification (AHA or Red Cross accepted)
  • Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership Systems (PECOS) enrollment required for Medicare ordering purposes
  • A minimum of one year of inpatient or related clinical experience is preferred; however, qualified new graduates with relevant training and strong clinical interest are encouraged to apply.



Salary Range: Minimum 55.81/hour - Maximum 86.51/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
