The Sample Receiving Coordinator ensures efficient and accurate processing of incoming and outgoing samples and materials. This role takes a leadership approach to workflow coordination, provides guidance to junior staff, maintains compliance with ISO and quality control standards, and supports smooth laboratory operations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately log customer samples into the LIMS system and handle associated products as needed.
  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and reliability in all sample processing tasks.
  • Maintain adherence to the daily work schedule and communicate any issues promptly.
  • Perform clerical reviews to verify data entry and sample information.
  • Verify all samples are labeled correctly and stored at appropriate temperatures until testing occurs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sample receiving area.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and vendors when needed.
  • Learn new techniques, technologies, and procedures, and train others as appropriate.
  • Collaborate effectively with other laboratory departments.
  • Execute all ISO, quality control, and safety requirements consistently.
  • Stock and order necessary supplies (labels, boxes, etc.) and assist with the return of customer coolers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in Science or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in sample receiving, shipping, or laboratory operations.
  • Knowledge of laboratory practices, aseptic techniques, and chain-of-custody procedures.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Experience training or mentoring others in workflow processes.
  • Proficiency with LIMS or similar laboratory data management systems preferred.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbsand stand for extended periods.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and to handle other communications/computer components
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Noise level varies from quiet to loud
  • Temperature varies from hot to cold
  • Interactive and fast-paced team-oriented tasks
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Color vision and depth perception
