Closing Date: March 29, 2026 or upon the receipt of the first 50 application submissions Milwaukee County Department of Transportation Hourly Pay Rate: $23.92 - $35.88 Job Summary: Under the Supervision of the Highway Management/Supervisory staff, the primary role of Highway Maintenance Worker 2 is to perform unskilled or semi-skilled construction related labor in highway maintenance division on State, County and Interstate Highways. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of the techniques, methods, materials and equipment used in maintenance and improvement of highways and roads; knowledge of public safety rules and regulations; knowledge and familiarity with the maintenance and lubrication and minor repair of a wide variety of vehicles, machinery and equipment; ability to operate a wide variety of vehicle and other equipment used in snow removal and in the improvement and maintenance of grounds and roads; ability to use hand tools of the trade; ability to follow both oral and written instructions; ability to work in adverse weather conditions; and ability to work effectively and harmoniously with staff, the public and others. Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 60 lbs. Note: This Original Examination is open to current residents of the state of Wisconsin. In accordance with Rule III section 11 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of a review of candidate materials, education and related experience.
