The Purchasing / Planning Manager is responsible for maintaining optimal inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. This person provides supervision and direction to the planning and purchasing teams. This consists of, but is not limited to, the execution of all purchasing functions and requirements for the purchase of materials, equipment, supplies, and services in conjunction with all planning and scheduling systems & processes.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Provides work direction to planners and buyers.
  • Ensures that the company's standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all materials department functions.
  • Working with the Director of Operations and the Plant Manager, align inventory requirements with sales and operations planning and/or the demand schedule.
  • Provide training on the company ERP system, ISO procedures, MRP, replenishment systems, and inventory control processes, and improve workflow.
  • Provides leadership in Lean Manufacturing implementation.
  • Work with IT to develop the use of ERP or other programming to assist in planning/supply chain responsibilities.
  • Provides leadership in Excess and Obsolete inventory reduction/prevention and ongoing maintenance.
  • Maintain MRP integrity of item data and ensure forecast/safety stocks are properly in place to enable the accomplishment of on-time delivery and inventory level goals.
  • Monitor and improve supplier performance in the areas of price, delivery, and quality.
  • Manage new design effectively and production phase in/phase out plans.
  • Develop and maintain reports, analytics, and metrics.
  • Measure operational performance.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree with Business/Materials emphasis or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years' experience planning with an MRP system and working knowledge of a Job Shop environment or equivalent.
  • APICS Certified or equivalent experience.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills a necessity.
  • Ability to provide and give work direction within the department and communicate with all aspects/areas of the company.
  • Attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy.
  • General Office computer skills. Ability to understand and navigate in Excel - ability to analyze large amounts of data and combine data from multiple sources.
  • Requires effective communication skills in working with all departments.
  • Ability to understand Bills of Material, prints, and manufacturing processes helpful.
  • Valve product knowledge is an asset, but needs to excel at problem-solving and have the ability to constantly re-establish priorities.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Physical demands are typical of an office position, including extended periods of sitting, and extensive use of a personal computer and telephone.
  • Must be able to see and move throughout the plant to resolve work problems and facilitate processes.
  • Occasional handling of material and components.
  • May have contact with caustic substances in some areas of the plant.



WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal manufacturing and office environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron, and boots). Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

DeZURIK offers a competitive base salary in the $98,221 to $122,776 range, based on experience and qualifications, along with annual bonus opportunities tied to performance.
