JOB TITLE: CONTROL EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN

REPORTS TO: Engineering Services Manager

SHIFT / WORK HOURS:

Rotating: 7 am - 7 pm, 7 pm - 7 am.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Repair and respond promptly to mechanical and electrical work orders and breakdowns throughout the plant.
  2. Complete work orders in AMMS thoroughly for accurate records
  3. Repair T-Frames, stainless-steel boxes
  4. Monitor/log gas boiler, air compressors and WESPs throughout shift
  5. Complete WWTP rounds/monitor condition during 3rd shift.
  6. Service eye washes throughout plant (Weekly)
  7. Clean WESPs each weekend (Weekly)
  8. Participate in Plant Safety Meetings and support safety sub-committees.
  9. Assist 1st shift engineering associates and/or other associates with troubleshooting electrical and mechanical problems.
  10. Assist in solving quality and production related problems
  11. Participate in on or off-site training as required.
  12. Calibrate or verify control equipment
  13. Work on electrical infrastructure including conduit and flex.
  14. Troubleshoot and repair D.C. and A.C. motors and drives.
  15. Troubleshoot and repair breakers, overloads, proximity sensors, micro-switches, mechanical switches, etc.
  16. Read electrical drawings and work on electrical components on machinery.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Understanding, calibration, verification and troubleshooting of electrical (AC and DC) and control systems
    1. Power distribution
    2. Relay logic
    3. Electrical print reading
    4. Drive wiring and programming
    5. Control equipment including: RTDs, flow meters, D/P cells, I/Ps, load cells, positioners, compensators, potentiometers, etc.
    6. Voltages up to 600VAC
  2. Troubleshooting mechanical systems
  3. Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  4. Understanding of combustion systems for oven gas burners
  5. Knowledge of general safety procedures including proper PPE and 70e
  6. Documentation and root cause analysis (5 Why)
  7. Organization of spare parts inventory
  8. Knowledge of general safety procedures including proper PPE and 70E.
  9. Must have awareness of PC hardware components, desktop operation system software and application software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
  10. Should possess excellent analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve opportunities.
  11. Able to interact effectively with management, staff, vendors, customers, and work independently, and/or as part of a team.
  12. Must be able to lift 50lbs and be capable of using motorized equipment
  13. Must be self-driven.

Training time is based on the knowledge and education of the associate and the required certifications needed to perform certain tasks.

  1. Standing: Ability to stand while operating on equipment 50% of day
  2. Sitting: Ability to sit down for meetings & computer work 30% of day
  3. Walking: Ability to move throughout the plant: 15% of day
  4. Lifting: Ability to lift up to 30lbs: 20% of day

Ability to lift up to 10lbs: 30% of day

  1. Climbing: Ability to walk up steps at equipment 5% of day
  2. Bending: Ability to pick up objects from the floor, etc 5% of day
  3. Visual Acuity: Ability to read documents, computer screens, and roll ID tickets 100% of day
