Reliability Engineer

Position Summary:

As Reliability Engineer, you will support a project for a pharmaceutical client in Rensselaer, NY. In this role, you will provide technical and strategic expertise in terms of life cycle asset management implementation and the associated practices, to ensure maximum possible equipment performance at minimum cost. This will be accomplished by analysis, process mapping and improvements through equipment reliability, availability, and maintainability. We are open to a candidate local to the Albany NY area, or someone willing to travel to that site 50% of the time.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


  • Develop equipment system and location hierarchy
  • Perform criticality analysis and determine risk priority numbers for various equipment
  • Perform RCM/FMEA for equipment
  • Develop equipment maintenance plans that contain failure modes mapped to technologies or tasks
  • Create both predictive and preventive maintenance tasks
  • Level load optimized reliability based maintenance strategies
  • Coordinate the implementation of the reliability based maintenance strategy master plan
  • Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis
  • Define reliability based queries and reports to support a continuous improvement process


Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • At least 5 years of reliability engineering experience
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Relevant Certifications that may include: CRE (Certified Reliability Engineer) or CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professionals) through SMRP (Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals) or ASQ (American Society of Quality)
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and present technical information using practical judgment
  • Capable of functioning effectively in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written in group
  • Excellent presentation skills in group settings as well as one-on-one
  • Knowledge of advanced data gathering and analysis techniques, including statistical analysis
  • Proficient in Excel pivot tables and charting
  • Knowledge of standard quality and reliability tools such as FMEA (Failure Modes Effect Analysis), Weibull Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and Statistics


Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with aseptic manufacturing
  • Experience with Six Sigma methodology
  • Understanding of product reliability goals, reliability growth, and reliability prediction
  • Experience in applying thermography, oil analysis, ultrasonic analysis, vibration analysis, and motor analysis and associated performance trending programs


Physical Demands and Expectations:

  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
