| Duties and Responsibilities |
- Ensures the safe operation of all electrical systems and equipment by completing preventative maintenance on controllers, transformers, voltage regulators and machinery wiring.
- Assists in maintaining emergency generator system-related equipment
- Obtains electrical work permits
- Must stay current on all City and County electrical codes
- Works closely with contractors on site to ensure work performed meets current electrical codes
- Makes suggestions and offers ideas for repairs of campus buildings
- Installs new circuitry for equipment and lighting
- Performs work assignments received, both verbal and through the work order software system
- Maintains records of work performed using the work order management software system
- Assists supervisor with inventory control
- Performs work assignments to make campus facilities as safe and secure as possible for all students, staff and faculty
- May, at times, be called upon to assist with snow removal
- Performs related duties as assigned

| Minimum Education and/or Work Experience |
- Trade School or Industrial Apprenticeship degree in Electric or Electronic Trades
- Minimum of 5 years electrician experience. - Knowledge in electronics, troubleshooting, problem solving, equipment maintenance, power tools, life safety and technical understanding

| Qualifications |
- Must know Chicago electrical codes and Cook County permitting requirements
- Ability to follow manuals, schematic plans, blueprints, and other specifications required
- Must have knowledge of City and/or County code requirements
- Must have strong troubleshooting background
- Ability to use tools of the trade
- Ability to work in high and/or confined spaces
- Ability to carry materials to perform work functions
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must supply their own hand tools
- Must be able to work irregular hours if needed, to perform job requirements
- Must be able to work successfully with other trades to perform job duties
- Preferred candidates would also have prior work experience in an University/research environment

- Current Journeyman Electrician License, "A" Card in good standing
- Current Chicago Supervising Electrician License or equivalent is required
- Current Electrical Contractor's License and Insurance (for Health Sciences Campus applicants only)
- Must become member of IUOE Local 399 within 90 days of accepting position and maintain good standing with IUOE Local 399
