From your PASSION to ours

Lactalis in Belmont, Wisconsin, is part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring a Packager. As a Packager, one is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the handling, packaging, labelling, and movement of cheese products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role ensures product quality, operational efficiency, and compliance with company standards and safety protocols. This position requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and workplace safety.

From your EXPERTISE to ours

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Monitor the quality of cheese packed, weighing cheese if required, labeling, print quality, and accuracy of printed coding.
  • Place cheese onto conveyors and/or pack cheese into master cartons.
  • Remove cheese from racks and place it into the crumbler, inspecting each piece for foreign material to ensure product quality.
  • Oversee the crumbler for jams or clogs and perform necessary clearing to maintain continuous operation while following proper safety measures.
  • Stack empty racks correctly onto the base.
  • Hand-stack substandard cheese onto separate racks and stack empty racks for retrieval.
  • Load inners/cases and monitor to keep full to ensure no downtime.
  • Correctly apply labels to products, ensuring correct placement and alignment according to company standards and product specifications.
  • Tape cases of cheese securely, ensuring proper sealing and adherence to packaging standards.
  • Stack cases of cheese onto pallets following specific pallet configuration guidelines to ensure proper organization, stability, and efficiency in storage and transport.
  • Operate a pallet jack to move pallets of cheese to designated areas safely,
  • Accurately complete all required line operation/task paperwork, ensuring proper documentation of activities in compliance with company procedures and quality standards.
  • Efficiently wrap and band pallets according to product and pallet specifications.
  • Rework product as needed by identifying and correcting packaging or labeling issues, ensuring all reprocessed items meet quality and safety standards before returning to the production flow.
  • Follow all safety protocols and sanitation standards to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Interact with the team to maintain an open line of communication, enabling efficient process flow.
  • Report problems and/or concerns to the on-duty supervisor.
  • Attend departmental meetings and training as assigned by the supervisor and/or manager.

Education: A high school degree is preferred.

Experience: 2+ years' experience in the food industry setting is preferred.
