Linde Gas & Equipment Inc. (LG&E) is seeking a Safety and Health Specialist to join our Electronic Gases EHS team based in Hampton, NJ or any other major EG&SP location such as: RTP, NC, Kingman, AZ, Medford, OR, or Alpha, NJ. This Safety and Health Specialist role on our Linde Electronic Gases HSE team supports worker safety and health by providing technical guidance and hands-on support. This role facilitates continuous improvement within our strategic vision of not harming people or the environment. Best performance builds transparency and structural resilience for Zero Incidents & Injuries and Industrial Health knowledge and compliance. Our Electronic Gases business has a diverse portfolio of high purity gases (DOT Class 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3) primarily in cylinders, but also portable tanks and manifolded tube trailers. Our product line continues to expand (including some specialty liquids) to meet our customers' needs. Scope includes six operations facilities, seven stocking locations, laboratory teams as well as administrative and engineering teams (all in US). Exempt, salaried positions require a consistent on site presence during the company's core operating hours to support business operations and team needs. Due to the nature of exempt roles, work hours may extend beyond the standard schedule when necessary to meet organizational demands, leadership responsibilities, and business objectives. This may include occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends, depending on the role and the needs of the business, manager will confirm shift expectations. Safety and Health Specialist for Electronic & Specialty Gases Business: * Maintain and apply knowledge of policies, standards, and regulations. Participate in program maintenance and alignment of practices to updated/harmonized corporate standards. * Provide training and program management for various safety topics, but especially related to Linde "Life Safety Rules" including Permit-to-Work, Elevated Work, PPE and Manual Handling. Chemical Hazard Communication and Industrial Hygiene expertise is important for this role * Provide guidance and direct support to Operations (specialty gas facilities) and stocking sites building bes practices. Prepare sites for third-party regulatory inspections (OSHA general industry in particular), and Linde internal assessments of personnel safety process and IH compliance. * Develop competencies of facility managers and HSE Coordinators. Facilitate resources to enhance health & safety compliance and best practices at sites. * Conduct assessments on HSE topics, including those related to OSHA general industry and others as noted above. Produce high quality audit reports in a timely way. Use the designated Linde Global HSE Assessment Management Platform as applicable. * Support safety-related incident investigation, ensuring clarity of root causes and S.M.A.R.T. corrective/preventative action plans. * Corrective Actions management: Influence Electronics teams in timely planning and completion of actions to remediate nonconformances or address recommended actions. Participate in HSE-business team review of action status and/or effectiveness. * Support a Goals-driven HSE improvement culture by generating relevant reports and metrics. * Maintain a thorough knowledge of industrial health and personnel safety practices. Long term: participate in relevant industry-association activity (eg, CGA, AIHA) bringing best practice details back to the business. Participate in building regular HSE-driven communication to the business for awareness of HSE goals, Lessons-from-Incidents, HSE success examples and more. * Provide support for emergency response incidents as part of HSE business resource team. * Various other assignments as directed Qualifications
Qualifications: * B.S. degree required (engineering, industrial hygiene, chemistry or similar) * 5 - 10 years of experience in an operations/chemical manufacturing environment * Excellent knowledge of Federal and State regulations and industry best-practice standards * Training/Presentation skills to large and small groups. * Excellent communications skills (oral and digital). Ability to organize present instructional/ informative information. * Preferred specialty training and experience: Industrial Hygiene in chemical-handling or similar industrial setting; OSHA compliance in industrial operations (with construction safety work as a good supplement). Ergonomics assessment a plus. * Experience should include Respiratory and Hearing Protection Risk Assessments and associated compliance program management. Also topics such as, but not limited to: PTW, LOTO, Elevated Work, Hot Work, Materials Handling, and Hazard Communication (with GHS classification familiarity). * Hands-on and acts with a sense of urgency. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills, must be able to effectively communicate across the organization * Must be proficient in computer skills including Word, Excel & PowerPoint; able to navigate custom databases * Self-motivated with the ability to work on teams as well as independently, managing multiple tasks * Ability to develop and lead small teams. * Willingness to travel 30-50% as needed.
