SAFe Agile Release Train Engineer (RTE)

We are seeking an experienced SAFe Agile Release Train Engineer (RTE)to lead and facilitate our Agile Release Train (ART) in delivering high-quality solutions aligned with business objectives. The RTE serves as the servant leader and coach for the ART, ensuring continuous improvement, alignment, and execution across multiple Agile teams within the SAFe framework.

This role requires strong leadership, facilitation, conflict resolution, and program-level coordination skills to drive large-scale Agile delivery in a complex environment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Agile Release Train Leadership

  • Serve as the servant leader and facilitator for the Agile Release Train (ART).
  • Facilitate ART events including:
    • Program Increment (PI) Planning
    • ART Sync (Scrum of Scrums & PO Sync)
    • System Demos
    • Inspect & Adapt Workshops
  • Ensure alignment across teams to deliver on committed PI Objectives.
  • Monitor and communicate program-level progress, risks, and dependencies.

Program Execution & Delivery

  • Track and manage cross-team dependencies and impediments.
  • Escalate and resolve systemic impediments impacting ART performance.
  • Promote transparency through metrics such as velocity, predictability, and flow.
  • Support release planning and coordination across multiple teams.

Coaching & Continuous Improvement

  • Coach Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and teams on SAFe principles and Agile best practices.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Guide the ART in improving quality, predictability, and delivery performance.
  • Drive Lean-Agile mindset adoption across stakeholders.

Stakeholder & Portfolio Collaboration

  • Partner with Product Management, Business Owners, and Solution Management.
  • Align ART execution with strategic themes and portfolio objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership regarding progress, risks, and outcomes.

Risk & Dependency Management

  • Identify, track, and mitigate program risks using tools such as ROAM (Resolved, Owned, Accepted, Mitigated).
  • Coordinate with other ARTs and external stakeholders as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in Agile environments.
  • 2+ years of experience in a program-level Agile leadership role (RTE, Senior Scrum Master, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of the Scaled Agile, Inc. SAFe Framework.
  • Experience facilitating large-scale planning events (PI Planning).
  • Strong knowledge of Agile metrics and reporting.
  • Excellent facilitation, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience working with distributed teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification.
  • SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) certification.
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar Agile lifecycle management tools.
  • Experience in [Industry: Financial Services / Healthcare / Technology / etc.].
  • Strong background in Lean and systems thinking.

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $120,000 - $205,200

Individualsselected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
