- In this role you will focus on providing installation, daily onsite support, maintenance of communications and force protection networks and devices at FBI facilities in Northern Virginia area. Under unique circumstances, travel to other location within the United States and internationally may be required.
- The Electronics Technician will play a critical role in ensuring timely, efficient communications and IT support to hundreds of users in a high-security environment. You will directly contribute to the operational readiness and effectiveness of federal law enforcement operations.
- The selected candidate will strengthen their expertise in telecommunications and IT service management, federal contract execution, and customer engagement.
Typical Day: The candidate will provide telecommunications and IT support for FBI facilities in the northern Virginia area in in support of the FBI's Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG). Typical day is spent at the FBI facility in Aquia, VA conducting training, installation, maintenance and service support for facility IT infrastructure cabling, security systems, radio systems, and related documentation. The individual will conduct periodic local travel in the northern Virginia area to provide support to outlying facilities. Tasks:
- Network Infrastructure: Provide maintenance and support for routers, servers, switches, cabling and panels, along with connectivity for data and voice connections
- Cabling: Provide installation, termination, maintenance and support for cabling (fiber, CAT5E/6, RG45, RG6, LMR400, AV) and low voltage electrical
- Taclanes: Install, maintain, and troubleshoot devices, firmware, network connectivity, and encryption keys
- Access Controls: Install, maintain and troubleshoot hardware, software cabling, and system applications
- Locks and Alarms: Install, maintain and troubleshoot hardware, software cabling, and system applications
- CCTV: Install, maintain and troubleshoot hardware, software cabling, and system applications
- A/V: Install, maintain and troubleshoot hardware, software cabling, and system applications
- Radio: Install, maintain and troubleshoot radios, antennas, application software, and encryption
- Documentation: Generate and maintain equipment inventory, reporting, helpdesk ticketing, site drawings, and system/application updates
Required Qualifications:
- Education: High School + 7 yrs experience, Associates + 5 yrs experience, Bachelor's +3 yrs experience; CompTIA SEC + certification can substitute for education requirements
- Five (5) years documented experience in telecommunications, communication systems technician support, including but not limited to: electrical, mechanical, computer science systems
- Shall be able to carry communications equipment up to 70 lbs
- Shall be able to climb on or under small or large vehicles
- Top Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain SCI access
- Ability to pass a polygraph and drug screening exam when directed once employed
- Ability to deploy to locations away from Quantico, Virginia both inside the United States or internationally on short notice and for possible extended periods of time
Desired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of telecommunications management;
- Operational knowledge of cryptographic encryption devices
- Ability to perform general maintenance and cleaning on vehicles and facilities
- Possess a US Passport
- Possess a Commercial Driver's License, Class A and or B
- Prior military experience in US military tactical communications ( Army 25 series, USMC 253 series, Navy Information Systems Technician, Air Force 2E series)

Position Type Shift Information:
- 40 hours per week during normal business periods at Aquia, Virginia, or northern Virginia facility as required
- Potential extended 8-12 hour day/night shifts, to include weekends, when deployed in support of mission, training, or exercise support
- Normal work hours are Monday-Friday, 8 hrs per day. Employees will rotate on and off of a 24/7 "on-call" status to support contingency requirements. When deployed, the employee may be required to support 24/7 operations in the form of day/night shifts up to 12 hrs for extended periods of time, to include weekends
- Overtime may be authorized by the Contracting Officer on a case by case basis. Compensation time may be authorized for overtime hours accrued that have not been authorized overtime pay
