What to Expect

Tesla is seeking an energetic and highly motivated Engineering Technician to join the Drive Unit team. You will be part of a versatile team consisting of equipment, controls and process engineers that sustain daily production, execute OEE improvements and ramp new lines. You will have the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally by working with multiple departments across the factory.

C Shift: 06:00AM-06:00PM; Sunday - Tuesday with alternating Wednesdays


What You'll Do
  • Support engineering trials with disciplined change point management & task tracking (PCA's & Jiras)
  • Execute prescribed equipment/process qualification tasks such as work station and vendor cell program qualifications
  • Support engineering with execution of corrective actions which could include rapid prototyping, fabrication, assembly, metrology etc.
  • Update sustaining documentation like work instructions (MIs, AMs, EMS') and provide training to support functions
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively between teams like quality, production, spares, maintenance planning etc.
  • Lead implementation of continuous improvement activities like workstation ergonomics improvements, cost savings etc.
  • Triage & troubleshoot production issues when needed, document symptoms, communicate and track progress of resolution (Jiras)

What You'll Bring
  • 3+ years in a manufacturing environment with hands-on experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, structured problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills; experience with machine shop and measurement tools
  • Ability to work in high-stress environments with shifting priorities; self-motivated and eager to learn
  • Proficiency in CAD, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio); ability to interpret and update engineering drawings, electrical schematics, BOMs, and spare parts lists
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk for 10 hours, lift 10-20 lbs. regularly, perform repetitive motions, bend/twist, and climb ladders/stairs; must wear an air-purifying respirator as needed
  • Experience using Tesla platforms (Jira, PCA, Issue Trackers, Flux, MOS, Confluence); ability to collect, manipulate, and visualize production, equipment, and process data
  • Knowledge of SPC & Process Capability, PLC experience, and experience writing work instructions are a plus
