Position Summary:

The Aircraft Tooling Planner ensures that the appropriate tools are available in the right quantity, condition, and location to support aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities. The position also safeguards company tooling assets by monitoring tool tracking, storage, and usage practices while ensuring compliance with company policies, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards, and applicable government calibration and regulatory requirements.

Major Job Accountabilities



  • Review and coordinate all tooling requirements for scheduled aircraft check events and scheduled line maintenance activities.
  • Support Supply Chain and Materials teams with the receiving and inspection of aircraft tooling, ensuring compliance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and company specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with internal maintenance teams and external vendors to ensure all tooling requests are reviewed, approved, and available prior to event induction.
  • Assist Maintenance and Materials departments with technical research related to aircraft tooling requirements and approved substitutions; provide recommendations regarding tooling provisioning, procurement, and alternatives.
  • Coordinate with the Tooling Manager, suppliers, and airline partners to source and arrange tool loans or borrow agreements to support critical tooling requirements.
  • Monitor the tooling calibration program and ensure expiring tools are identified and addressed prior to their calibration expiration dates.


Secondary Job Accountabilities



  • Support team members with global tooling allocation and fulfillment to minimize shortages and ensure timely replenishment, including expediting tools undergoing repair.
  • Assist in the evaluation, troubleshooting, and disposition of inoperative or unserviceable tooling.
  • Conduct periodic audits of the tooling database (TRAX) to ensure compliance with General Maintenance Manual (GMM) policies, including verification of valid calibration records, compliant certification in accordance with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, and accurate asset number assignments.
  • Maintain accurate tooling records and support continuous improvement of tooling tracking and inventory processes.


Work Environment / Collaboration

This position is based within the Technical Operations department of an airline or aerospace manufacturer. The role requires regular collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Maintenance, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Engineering, to support operational and tooling requirements. Occasional travel to maintenance bases, hangars, or manufacturing facilities may be required to support operational needs.

Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum three (3) years inventory management or aircraft maintenance experience within a commercial airline, automotive, manufacturing, or related field.
  • Knowledgeable in aircraft tooling and their application with an understanding of technical manuals/drawings.
  • Must have the highest standards of integrity and ethics in order to effectively represent Company's interests in the market place.
  • Associate or Technical Trade Degree preferred
  • Ability to work in a faced paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills


Special Demands:



  • Ability to work, days, nights, and/or weekend shifts as required to support operational needs.
  • Ability to travel as necessary to support assigned projects, as well as the inventory and inspection of company tooling assets.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned by the Manager, Aircraft Tooling.

Competitive compensation will be offered based on a variety of factors, including a candidate's experience, skills, education, geographic location, internal equity and other factors. In addition, a range of benefits to include medical, dental and vision insurance, employee assistance program, as well as generous paid time off, and 401K contributions are offered as a part of the total compensation package.

$63,000 $85,000 USD
