Overview

The Entry Level Technical Associate (EP) will be involved in the support and maintenance of the Energy Management System (EMS) and other associated systems at two control centers. Duties include updating the system displays, database and system parameters to support real-time operations to the electric transmission and steam systems.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Acquire comprehensive expertise in the tools for building and maintaining databases and displays in the Energy Management System (EMS) and provide support for OSI PI data historian systems.
  • Possess a good understanding of power system modeling, state estimator, contingency analysis and power flow analysis supporting real-time operations.
  • Collaborate with team members to facilitate the testing and documentation of enhancements and fixes as provided by the vendor.
  • Work closely with the team to troubleshoot system issues and be on call to provide off-hours support.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to report and address telemetry problem.
  • Adhere to change management processes in alignment with regulatory and departmental requirements, guidelines, and procedures
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer
  • Science or related field and Minimum one year Includes cumulative work or equivalent internship/co-op experience OR Six months of Con Edison co-op or internship experience.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Familiar with applications that support and maintain real-time operational technology (OT) critical systems and OSI PI system, required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of SCADA system displays and have an interest in how an Energy Management System (EMS) works, required.
  • Willingness to take on new and unfamiliar project assignments based on changing needs, required.
  • Must demonstrate a high energy level, understand the vital importance of Commitment to Excellence, and possess a high regard for Con Edison's Corporate Values and Mission, required.
  • Knowledgeable in power system modeling, state estimator, contingency analysis and power flow analysis supporting real-time operations, preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Oracle database and SQL queries, preferred.
  • Experience working in Linux environment, preferred.

Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
  • Must be able to pass Industrial Psychologist examination.
