Basic Purpose

Responsible for monitoring and leading global trade compliance, control regulations, operations data and assessing impact on company products to assure compliance in applicable regions where we do business, with a focus on North America.

Primarily responsible to aid Global Supply Chain to ensure highly efficient, effective, and compliant End to End processes for USMCA trade, Duty Drawback and FTA processes and certifications. The position's responsibilities include but are not limited to coordination with appropriate internal and external stakeholders to ensure that Nexeo Plastics' export and import objectives adhere to applicable laws and company policies.

Position Responsibilities



  • Daily USMCA tasks:

    • TSCA certificate creation as needed
    • ISF filling reports and compliance audit (import shipments)
    • AES, CARM filling reports and compliance audits
    • K-84 Canadian taxes review and payments, as applicable
    • Certificate of Origin requests and monitoring, including HS Codes accuracy
    • USMCA/FTA request and issue creation as needed


  • End User reviews, screens, and legal diligence (sanctions review)
  • Provide guidance on impact of tariff regulations and monitor and communicate changes to relevant stakeholders
  • Answer inquiries regarding CTPAT and other similar certifications
  • Provide guidance on Duty Drawback processes
  • Conduct monthly FTA audit
  • Periodically review Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Trade Compliance purposes
  • Create and provide training on global trade compliance matters and applicable regulations to internal stakeholders
  • Subject matter expert on Free Trade Zones and Free Trade Agreements in the North and South America region (e.g., IMMEX, USFTZ, others)
  • Request and prepare annual letters to manufacturing companies for FTA/COO inquiries as needed.
  • Provide Global Trade notifications to all Nexeo Plastics Teams as needed
  • Create, maintain, and update Nexeo Plastics' Global Trade documentation and training
  • Provide regional support for the movement of cargo from both export and import sides of transactions.
  • Solid understanding of AES/ACE Portal, CARM, EAR, ITAR, OFAC, anti-dumping, restricted party screening, UBO screening, HTS USMCA, export and import compliance matters, and investigations
  • Interface with suppliers, 3PL's, customs brokers, and customers and audit relevant import/export data to support cross-functional teams.
  • Provide support and assistance to global business units as required for emergency shipments, global trade questions, supplier documents and/or other information.
  • Act as liaison on companywide projects related to compliance initiatives.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities to strengthen compliance program and implement solutions with support from internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Customer Service, Sales, Logistics and Procurement Teams and assist/advise on export/import compliance.
  • SAP Export/Import database accuracy audits to ensure recordkeeping requirements are met.
  • Other tasks as assigned.



Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience & Skills)



  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain or logistics
  • 5 to 7 years of International Trade Compliance experience
  • 3 years of Drawback and FTA knowledge
  • Knowledge of USMCA, FTA/FTZ trade and freight forwarding concepts (e.g., Incoterms, bill of lading, custom forms)
  • Extensive understanding of U.S. export and import regulations
  • Proficient in SAP, Microsoft Office, ability to communicate with all levels of company management.
