POSITION SUMMARY:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our leadership team at Hillcrest Medical Center as the Director of Nursing Medical Surgical.

Director of Nursing Medical Surgicalapplies knowledge and skills, professionally in the daily performance of management activities. He/she assists in the design, measurement, monitoring and implementation of programs to improve patient care within the medical surgical and critical care areas of the hospital, as measured by improved clinical outcomes, improved efficiency of resource use and improved patient and physician satisfaction

  • The nurse director is a professional registered nurse with twenty-four-hour responsibility for assigned departments within established standards to achieve the mission and vision of the organization.
  • The nursing director is responsible for overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the unit/departments and executes supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • The nurse director provides leadership and mentorship in the development of leaders and staff.
  • The nurse director is responsible for monitoring and evaluating quality, patient satisfaction and employee satisfaction outcomes to implement strategies for improvement.
  • The nurse director is a change agent and will establish strong collaborative relationships with physicians.
  • Responsible for overall administrative, financial and clinical activities of assigned departments.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of five (or 3-5) years' clinical nursing experience of which 3 (or 2) years must have been in management capacity.
  • Bachelor's in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing and/or related field, preferred.
  • Certification in clinical specialty or nursing administration, preferred.
  • Current RN license or current license deemed acceptable by the applicable State Board of Nursing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Requires strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
