Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for participants and staff while providing excellent customer service. Duties include monitoring facility access, assisting participants, enforcing policies and safety procedures, supporting crowd control and conflict prevention, maintaining accurate records, and communicating effectively with supervisors and team members to support daily operations.

Part-time position Monday through Friday 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM.

Position Summary

  • Manage participant and visitor check-in by granting entrance, verifying attendance, and directing patrons to appropriate classes or activities.
  • Provide ongoing support and assistance to participants while maintaining a professional and welcoming environment.
  • Enforce Milwaukee Public Schools, Milwaukee Recreation, and Community Center policies, procedures, and safety rules.
  • Remain alert and proactive to de-escalate conflicts and support crisis intervention alongside building leadership and staff.
  • Keep accurate records, including attendance logs and incident or accident reports, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding supply needs, facility issues, incidents, or other concerns.
  • Support building directors, staff, and program instructors with daily operations and participant guidance.
  • Attend required staff meetings and training sessions to stay current on policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support facility operations and program success.
Supervision Required

Reports to the Supervisor of Active Older Adults.

Job Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Able to meet the scheduling needs required for this position.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs continuously.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willing to be trained.
Preferred Experience

  • Previous work experience in a public setting with a diverse population.
  • Experience as Event Staff or other security position.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to work with all age groups, especially older adults.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish languages.
  • Ability to maintain files, assemble reports, and perform multiple office functions.
  • Ability to deliver exemplary customer service to the public and district staff.
