Senior Business Systems Analyst * Payroll

Acara Solutions is seeking a hybrid Senior Business Systems Analyst - Payroll in Phoenix, AZ.

This role partners closely with Accounting, Payroll, and Business Systems teams to ensure accurate payroll processing, system integrity, and efficient business operations. The position also plays a key role in system enhancements, process improvement initiatives, and project implementation efforts.

Duration: 1-year contract

Pay Rate: $80.00-$90.00/HR

Job Responsibilities

• Lead and/or participate in projects to define business processes, system scope, and objectives through research and stakeholder collaboration
• Gather, analyze, and document functional requirements, business rules, and future system needs
• Analyze workflows and recommend process improvements to streamline, automate, and enhance efficiency
• Support system upgrades, enhancements, patches, and implementations, including testing, documentation, and end-user training
• Provide operational support for business systems, including troubleshooting issues and coordinating with IT and vendors
• Resolve complex payroll-related issues impacting payroll processes, accounts, and cost distribution
• Assist in the preparation, calculation, and transmission of payroll activities
• Review, test, and implement payroll practices to ensure accuracy, compliance, and consistency
• Prepare and support monthly account reconciliations and payroll-related reporting
• Develop, maintain, and distribute standard and complex reports using reporting tools
• Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across all reporting and system outputs
• Maintain system documentation, business procedures, and training materials
• Support system security processes and ensure proper controls and documentation are in place
• Participate in system transformation and cross-functional project initiatives
• Collaborate with Accounting, Payroll, and Business Systems teams to support projects and resolve issues
• Coordinate project activities, including scope definition, timelines, testing strategy, and implementation plans
• Work with end-users to develop implementation plans, timelines, and process improvements
• Monitor business performance metrics and support reporting on key activities and goals
• Contribute to business case development, including cost/benefit analysis for system and process improvements
• Assist in planning, budgeting, and administrative functions as needed
• Promote cross-functional teamwork and continuous improvement across departments
• Continuously develop knowledge of business systems, processes, and industry best practices

• BS/BA equivalency or an equivalent combination of four years relevant work experience and relevant college coursework in business, information technology or a related area.
  An additional five (5) years of progressively responsible experience where strong understanding of database design, structure, functions and processes and experience with database tools is obtained.
• Experience supporting or leading large-scale implementation projects
• Payroll experience, including understanding of payroll processes and systems
• Experience with system testing, including test planning, execution, and validation
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to ensure accuracy in data, processes, and reporting
