We are seeking a highly experienced, autonomous System Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to support the entire Cancer Service Line across multiple domestic sites and international partnerships. This role is designed for a senior CNS who will function as a clinical expert, systems leader, and evidencebased practice champion, providing handson clinical leadership to support program expansion, quality, safety, and practice harmonization across the enterprise.

This is a systemlevel role best suited for an experienced CNS who thrives in a dynamic, projectbased environment and is comfortable operating with a high degree of independence.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Leads quality and patient safety initiatives through gap analyses, needs assessments, and datadriven decisionmaking across multiple sites.
  • Translates best evidence into practice and facilitates integration of programs across regional, national, and international oncology settings.
  • Defines, tracks, and analyzes clinical metrics to monitor outcomes, compliance, and variation in care delivery.
  • Conducts onsite assessments to evaluate workflows, identify contributing factors to variation, and implement corrective actions.
  • Supports domestic expansion and international oncology partnerships in collaboration with Johns Hopkins International.
  • Functions as a system clinical leader, influencing practice change and supporting sustainable implementation.
  • Represents the organization in professional, academic, and specialty forums related to oncology nursing and clinical nurse specialist practice.
  • Serves as a clinical resource to nurses and interprofessional teams by modeling best practice, demonstrating procedures, and validating competency.
  • Supports clinical teams during new program launches, workflow redesign, and implementation of new therapies, technologies, or equipment.
  • Uses advanced communication skills to navigate complex clinical, operational, and systemlevel challenges.
  • Leads systemwide evidencebased practice (EBP) initiatives across the cancer service line.
  • Develops populationbased clinical profiles and conducts inquiries to identify variation in practice and opportunities for improvement.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates evidencebased policies, procedures, protocols, and care models to ensure consistency across all sites.



Qualifications:



  • Graduation from an accredited Clinical Nurse Specialist program with a Master's Degree
  • PostMaster Certificate, DNP, or PhD preferred (or exception per MBON regulations)
  • Board certification in area of specialty or population focus aligned with oncology practice (e.g., AdultGerontology) or exception per MBON regulations
  • Minimum 3-5 years of fulltime experience in oncology or related specialty
  • Prior experience functioning as a Clinical Nurse Specialist with demonstrated autonomy
  • Current unrestricted MD licensure as a Registered Nurse or multistate licensure privilege
  • Current unrestricted MD certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Advanced Compact to practice as a CNS
  • Enrollment in PECOS, if applicable, per Medicare requirements
  • BLS and ACLS certified

You must be fully credentialed by The Johns Hopkins Hospital Medical Board with staff privileges to start working.

Salary Range: Minimum $53.15/visit - Maximum $82.38/visit. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
