Position Title: Staff Accountant

Reports to: Regional Accounting Manager

We are looking for a Staff accountant with Visterra Landscape Group, a growing company ranking among the top 50 largest landscaping companies in the United States. With incumbent partner company leaders guiding day-to-day operations in their markets, Visterra is focused on continued geographic expansion to build a national platform with a team that prioritizes employee well-being, safety, and career growth opportunities.

We are looking for a candidate who will work closely with local leadership and accounting teams on general ledger entries, balance sheet reconciliations and analysis, banking, and sales tax. Reporting to the Regional Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for interactions with internal team members from all departments along with external customers and vendors. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working cross-functionally as a team as well as independently.

Compensation

Visterra offers competitive pay commensurate with experience in a similar position. The range for this position is $62,000 to $80,000 annually, but actual compensation will vary depending upon new hire experience and qualifications as well as internal equity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Complete required journal entries throughout the month
  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are complete for assigned accounts
  • Collaborate with Regional Accounting Manager to ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes
  • Ensure all federal, state, and local tax returns are prepared and filed as needed
  • Assist with Internal and External Audits as needed
  • Perform daily bank entries and reconcile all bank accounts
  • Provide KPIs for the monthly reporting packages
  • Administer local branch credit cards / Concur site to ensure an accurate feed into accounting system
  • Manage AP process
  • Provide back up support to AR
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Experience, Skills, & Abilities

  • Experience: 3 years of related work experience
  • Education: Two years of college or industry experience (business or related field)
  • Technology: Microsoft Suite required. Acumatica, Aspire and Concur preferred
  • Team: Be able to work cross-functionally with operators and key leaders. Have a high level of communication with customers and internal personnel. Be a resourceful team player who thinks independently
  • Delivering Success: A high level of integrity and pride in team successes and delivering on promises. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills while understanding how to prioritize conflicting needs. Handle issues proactively
  • Motivation: Satisfaction from hands-on experience and an enjoyment of start-up challenges. Have the ability to work independently
  • US work authorization and background check

Physical Demands

  • Position involves work that includes moving, adjusting, or carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. on occasion
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to be on-call as needed
  • Use office equipment including telephones, printers, shredders, etc.
