About This Role

Housing and Dining Services is seeking applicants for several skilled and motivated Maintenance and Repair Technician II's to join our team in a full-time, benefits-eligible role. These positions offer the opportunity to work independently while performing a wide range of hands-on maintenance, repair, and preventive tasks within one of our on-campus residence halls.

If you take pride in solving problems, maintaining safe and comfortable living spaces, and applying your technical skills in a dynamic environment, this role provides a rewarding way to make a daily impact on the student experience.

The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., offering consistency and work-life balance.

Key responsibilities include:
* Independently troubleshoot, maintain, and repair building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and electronic climate controls.
* Service and maintain equipment such as HVAC units, air compressors, pumps, valves, water softeners, and lighting control systems.
* Adjust heating and cooling systems to meet scheduled demands, seasonal changes, and resident comfort needs.
* Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues using blueprints, schematics, and technical knowledge.
* Perform repairs on plumbing fixtures and electrical components.
* Test and maintain fire alarm and emergency lighting systems.
* Coordinate and schedule work with departmental staff to support maintenance of mechanical systems, air handling units, ductwork, and environmental controls.
* Repair and maintain building hardware and custodial equipment, including locks, door components, blinds, and fixtures.
* Complete minor furniture repairs and general facility upkeep tasks.
* Maintain organized tools, maintenance records, manuals, and documentation.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires one year of relevant experience. Various training and/or certification may be required.
  • Requires valid drivers license upon employment,


Preferred Qualifications:



  • High School graduation/GED
  • Experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC at journeyman level
  • Five years of experience in the mechanical or building trades
  • Strong troubleshooting
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in a variety of trades
  • Knowledge of codes, hazards and safety precaution
  • Ability to effectively interact with others and the ability to provide professional, prompt communication regarding repairs, parts, "downtimes", etc.
