POSITION SUMMARY

The Mountain Events Sales Manager plays a pivotal role in driving group business across weddings, corporate gatherings, and social events. This position is responsible for maximizing revenue opportunities across banquets, event venues, and mountain-based activities by cultivating strong client relationships and delivering exceptional service from inquiry to execution. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and evenings as required to meet business demands is essential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Event Sales: Proactively sell SSRC to social, wedding, internal departments and corporate groups by delivering compelling event proposals and building strong internal and external client relationships. Plan and detail all aspects of booked events including, but not limited to: Banquet F&B, Lodging referrals, mountain logistics, 3rd party vendor relations including Entertainment, Retail, Audio Visual, and Mountain Products.
  • Marketing and Lead Generation: Manage marketing materials, assets, business listings, and other assets to effectively generate leads and attract potential clients. Engage in Sales Blitz, proactive sales outreach and identify opportunities within the market segments to capture new business and expand existing partnerships.
  • Sales Planning: Develop and manage a comprehensive sales plan with detailed action items, timelines, and measurable goals to drive sales and through completion. Maintain and develop a strong sales pipeline, tracking leads, forecasting revenue, and identifying new market opportunities. Prepare and maintain financial documents and reports. Compile data and sales performance from records in response to specific requests by the Director of Resort Sales and VP of Business Development.
  • Partnership Development: Build and maintain strong partnerships with meeting planners, third-party vendors, and Meeting Planners to generate referral business and enhance sales opportunities. Create and maintain excellent inter-departmental relationships including banquets, lifts, mountain operations and marketing to deliver high-quality, memorable events.
  • CRM Utilization: Maximize the use of the Delphi/Salesforce CRM system to track leads, manage client relationships, log all relevant client communication and close business. Utilize CRM features to seamlessly transition definite bookings to the venue/banquet execution teams. Document and distribute work as requested by the client to various operational departments via Banquet Event Orders and Conference Resumes as SSRC procedures dictate. Provide detailed descriptions of services, product, pricing, timing, location and layout of each individual event
  • Sales Goals: Consistently meet or exceed sales targets as set by the Director of Sales, demonstrating a strong commitment to achieving revenue goals.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Actively collaborate with Lift Operations, Food and Beverage, Revenue Management, Marketing, and Mountain Operations to deliver exceptional service and results for clients. Document and distribute work as requested by the client to various operational departments via Banquet Event Orders and Conference Resumes as SSRC procedures dictate. Provide detailed descriptions of services, product, pricing, timing, location, and layout of each individual event. Anticipate and mitigate the group's impact on SSRC operations both directly and indirectly affected by the event.
  • Market Awareness: Stay attuned to current market trends and competitor activities. Work closely with planning and banquet teams to develop innovative offerings that differentiate SSRC year-round in the marketplace.
  • Client Engagement: Conduct regular client site tours to showcase various venue options, engage potential clients, and close sales effectively. Report client feedback to Resort operation teams to evaluate event planning and performance on an ongoing regular basis.
  • Lead Response: Respond promptly and log all incoming leads within 24 hours to ensure excellent customer service and timely communication
  • Proposal Writing: Craft engaging and persuasive proposals that capture the attention of potential clients and clearly convey the uniqueness and experience of SSRC venues.
  • Contract Management: Handle contract negotiations with a focus on securing favorable terms and ensuring mutual satisfaction including detailing deposit amounts, due dates, attrition clauses and other criteria agreed upon. Negotiate pricing with the client based on the entire scope of the event needs. Exercise discretion and judgment to determine the best scenarios for the client based on size, budget, length of stay, eligible repeat business, media exposure, community relations and multiple revenue center opportunities.
  • Time Management: Efficiently balance time between outbound sales calls, site tours, proposal development, contract negotiations, marketing needs, and client networking activities to maximize productivity. Detailing events and Banquet Event Orders in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Competitive Analysis: Regularly review and analyze competitor offerings and industry standards to stay competitive and continuously improve SSRC's sales strategies.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication abilities, effectively engaging with all levels of the organization, from management to employees and customers. Capable of delivering clear and compelling presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Organizational Skills: Exhibit excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, flex to challenges, and allocate resources efficiently. Proactively anticipate needs and focus on high-priority tasks to ensure smooth operations and exceptional outcomes.
  • Reasoning and Decision-Making: Possess strong reasoning abilities to make independent judgments that significantly impact the organization. Skillfully solve practical problems and navigate situations with various concrete variables, especially in contexts with limited standardization.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Display a high level of interpersonal skills to manage sensitive and confidential situations and documentation with discretion and professionalism.
  • Technical Proficiency: Maintain a working knowledge of computers, including proficiency in MS Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint), to support effective communication and organizational processes.
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant administrative experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are required
  • Wedding Planner or Wedding Sales Manager experience preferred
  • Banquet, event, or conference services experience required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
  • Knowledge of Delphi (Salesforce) software required
  • Experience in organizing and maintaining moderately complex filing, computerized record systems
  • Strong administrative and/or organizational skills
  • Familiarity with food service management, including menu planning, cooking/food preparation operations, dining rooms set-up and service, wine service, ordering, staffing, pricing, and budgeting
  • Ensure understanding and compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
  • Be a consistent role model for company's Service Excellence standards
  • Must have Colorado approved Alcohol Server Training certificate or must attend a Colorado approved alcohol server training educational seminar within 30 days of employment
  • Must have current Food Handler and Allergy training certificate, or must attend Food Handler and Aller-train certification courses for Alterra Mountain Company within 14 days of employment
  • Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski and Resort Company's Service Excellence standards
  • Must have valid driver's license without limitations or restrictions and meet company's insurability standards (will be required to complete Motor Vehicle Record)
  • Communicate clearly in English, both verbal / non-verbal, and written
  • Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski and Resort Company's Service Excellence standards


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • College Degree preferred


The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on a range of factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives.

Steamboat Resort salary range: $57,784 - $69,507 per year
