Thermal - Training Supervisor


Summary


The Thermal Training Supervisor is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering technical and safety training programs for plant personnel and managing the Apprenticeship Program. This role ensures that all employees are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to operate and maintain thermal plant systems safely and efficiently. The Training Supervisor collaborates with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to identify training needs, maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.


Principal Responsibilities / Key Results Areas


*Design, implement, and evaluate technical and safety training programs for plant operations and maintenance staff.


*Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and develop targeted training solutions.


*Deliver classroom, hands-on, and on-the-job training sessions for new hires and existing employees.


*Maintain training records and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.


*Collaborate with subject matter experts to update training materials and incorporate best practices.


*Monitor and assess the effectiveness of training programs, making improvements as needed.


*Support the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring a smooth transition into plant operations.


*Promote a culture of safety, operational excellence, and continuous learning.


*Provide coaching and mentorship to staff to maximize team potential.


*Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements relevant to thermal plant operations.


*Manage Apprenticeship program Coordinate approved classes for apprentices at Metro Community College.


*Apprentices will report directly to this position


Required Skills


*Strong leadership and communication skills, including the ability to motivate and train others.


*In-depth knowledge of thermal plant operations, maintenance, and safetypractices.*Experience developing and delivering technical training programs.


*Proficiency in MS Office suite and learning management systems.


*Ability to coordinate multiple activities and prioritize under pressure.


*Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.


*Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.



Experience & Education


*High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred.


*Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in plant operations, maintenance, or technical training.


*Experience with district energy systems, steam, boilers, and chillers preferred.


*Valid state driver's license.


*Experience with SAP or similar enterprise software is a plus.


*Completion of formal training or certification in adult education or instructional design preferred.



Physical Requirements and Working Conditions


*Frequent standing, walking, and conducting hands-on training in plant and classroom environments.


*Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing, and working in industrial settings.


*Use of personal protective equipment as required.


*Work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals.


*Occasional travel to other company locations for training delivery or professional development.
