The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Risk Analyst to join our Gas Projects Services team in Houston to support the assessment, modelling and mitigation of the risks associated with the US Gas capital project portfolio. The Project Risk Analyst will be a member of the Project Risk Services team based in Calgary and will support the execution of TC Energy's project risk management process as well as the continuous improvement of the risk management function. The Project Risk Analyst role is a unique opportunity for those who are excited by a broad range of duties involving the development and analysis of project risks through collaboration, interfacing, influencing and adapting. These include but are not limited to: continuous improvement, performance measurement / reporting, and stakeholder engagement and coordination. The successful candidate will think strategically and work with a myriad of stakeholders in all areas and levels of the organization, be practical, pragmatic and focused on customer needs to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions. What You'll Do
Ensuring project teams follow Risk management and contingency estimation processes in accordance with TC Energy Procedures Escalating any issues that could impact accuracy of assessment results to project teams and direct manager Qualitative and Quantitative Cost and Schedule Risk Assessment (CSRA) Collaborate with Project teams to develop project Risk Management Plans Dynamic facilitation of risk management process activities including risk identification, risk response planning, monitoring and reporting through a variety of methods and techniques (workshop, interviews, surveys, etc.) Understanding, interpreting and avoiding the effects of bias and opinion on risk quantification Generating and presenting analysis and key project risks to project teams and other stakeholders Review and analyze key project documentation (Project Execution Plans, Business Cases, Estimates, Schedules, Forecasts, Supply Chain strategy and planning documents, etc.) Build and foster positive relationships with various stakeholders in business units and on projects Support the implementation and stakeholder management of the project risk knowledge base & software Support strategic risk functional initiatives and continuous improvement execution Support aggregated risk analysis for program, portfolio or enterprise Act as a champion for risk management culture, supporting the development and advancement of the risk management practice in the projects organization Strong collaboration skills and relationship building to understand customer business needs and required outcomes Business maturity and awareness in handling confidential and competition-sensitive topics Aptitude for continuous improvement and change management Working knowledge in complimentary project controls disciplines (estimating, scheduling, cost control) Familiarity with industry-standard risk management practices and terminology (ISO 31000, PMBOK, AACEI, etc.) Ability to engage with corporate risk management functions to drive alignment (insurance risk, counterparty risk, etc.) Demonstrated proficiency with risk modeling and use of Risk Software; Riskonnect Active Risk Manager (ARM), Deltek Acumen, and Lumivero @risk or equivalents (Oracle PRA, Crystal Ball, Safran, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications
Post-Secondary degree in Engineering, Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics or related field 10+ years of industry experience with 5+ years of relevant Risk Management, Project Management or other project experience with exposure to linear (Pipeline), facilities, or other large capital construction projects Ability to compile data and visualize using available tools such as MS Excel Strong foundation in statistical analysis and applied mathematics
Preferred Qualifications
Alternate career paths and qualifications through project related trades or project services would be considered (Journeyman or Professional Technologist) Any construction experience in the energy sector Experience in data analytics, data structuring, SQL and system administration, reporting and data visualization Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI-Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) or equivalent, Business Competency Certifications (Blue seal) or equivalent, Continuous improvement methodology certifications (relevant to Lean Six Sigma, Process Improvement, Kaizen, etc.), Leadership certifications related to coaching or situational leadership
