Job Title: Epic Analyst II

General Purpose of the Job

The Ambulatory/Healthy Planet Analyst is responsible for the design, build, testing, and long-term support of the EpicCare Ambulatory and Healthy Planet applications to support DaVita's Integrated Kidney Care (IKC) build within DaVita's Epic instance.

This role serves as the Epic technical representative for the EpicCare Ambulatory application. You will partner with the IKC Product Team to translate business needs into system functionality, focusing on value-based care workflows, population health management, and care coordination to improve clinical outcomes and operational efficiency. We explicitly value both deep Epic technical expertise and/or strong IKC operational knowledge; successful candidates may bring strength in one area with an expectation to grow in the other.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Agile Product Delivery & Technical Strategy
  • Product Collaboration: Partner with the Product Manager and Designer during sprint refinement to validate technical feasibility and ensure user stories meet the Product model before build begins.
  • Requirements Translation: Lead the translation of broad product opportunities into development-ready Epic technical specifications. You are responsible for bridging the gap between "what we want to solve" and "how Epic solves it" (Configuration vs. Customization).
  • Rapid Prototyping & Discovery: Execute Epic Feature Discovery and build rapid Proof of Concepts (POCs) in non-production environments to validate hypotheses and test desirability with users before committing to full-scale implementation.
  • Epic Best Practices Ownership: Serve as the accountable owner for Epic Best Practices, ensuring that all product designs leverage standard functionality first (Foundation System) to minimize long-term maintenance debt.
  • System Configuration & Core Duties
  • System Design & Build: Lead the configuration, build, and maintenance of EpicCare Ambulatory and Healthy Planet modules. Specific focus areas include physician documentation, ordering workflows, In Basket management, Registries and Rosters, Health Maintenance, and Risk Scoring.
  • Workflow Analysis: Collaborate with IKC operational and clinical subject matter experts (SMEs) to analyze current state workflows and design future state processes that align with best practices for ambulatory care and population health.
  • Governance & Standards: Participate in application governance and design authority processes to ensure consistent, scalable, and compliant build across ambulatory and population health workflows.
  • Population Health Management: Configure and support Healthy Planet tools such as Registries, Reporting Workbench reports, Radar dashboards, Care Gaps, and Care Plans to support value-based care initiatives.
  • Reporting & Metrics Enablement: Partner with analytics and reporting teams to define, validate, and support population health and value-based care metrics, including measuring logic, attribution, and data reconciliation.
  • Integration Support: Ensure seamless integration between Ambulatory/Healthy Planet and other Epic modules (e.g., Cadence, Resolute, Link, MyChart) as well as external data sources (payer claims, external EHRs) for comprehensive patient data aggregation.
  • Change & Adoption Support: Collaborate with training and change management teams to ensure system design supports effective end-user adoption and operational readiness.
  • Testing & Validation: Plan and execute comprehensive testing scripts (unit, system, application, and integrated testing) to validate system build, ensure data integrity, and mitigate risks prior to production migration.
  • Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, identifying root causes and implementing robust solutions. Serve as a Tier 3 support contact for end-users.
  • Project Participation: Support the IKC implementation onto the DaVita Epic instance by participating in project milestones, including design sessions, dress rehearsals, cutover planning, go-live and post-live stabilization support.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation, including build trackers, test scripts, and workflow diagrams. Adhere to strict change control processes.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong partnerships with clinical champions and operational leaders to ensure the system meets business goals and regulatory requirements (e.g., ACO, MSSP, NCQA).
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Participate in system upgrades, special updates, and other department initiatives as required.

  • Operational knowledge of ambulatory physician practices, care management, or population health/value-based care models is strongly preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex business needs into technical solutions.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Note: If not currently certified, the candidate must be willing and able to obtain Epic certification within a specified timeframe - 3 months of hire.
