The Research Fellow position is a full-time research appointment involving advanced and specialized research in ophthalmology and translational vision science. The position requires theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge in molecular biology, immunology, bioengineering, and ophthalmic disease models.

Primary duties include:

  • Designing and conducting in vitro experiments involving molecular cloning, antibody engineering, gene therapy vector development, and protein characterization, Single-cell analysis, gene editing, epigentic analyses, sequencing, flow-cytometry, other molecular biology studies
  • Performing cell-based functional assays
  • Designing and conducting in vivo studies in small and large animal models
  • Analyzing experimental data using advanced statistical and scientific methodologies
  • Interpreting results to guide experimental design and therapeutic optimization
  • Preparing scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication
  • Presenting research findings at national and international scientific conferences
  • Assisting in preparation of research reports and supporting documentation for regulatory submissions (including IND-enabling studies)

Subsidiary duties include:

  • Maintaining laboratory records in accordance with institutional and regulatory standards
  • Assisting with protocol development and compliance documentation
  • Contributing to grant applications and progress reports
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary research teams

To develop treatment of corneal blindness using new artificial cornea, analyze the immune compartment of the retina and CNS, develop and characterize molecules for analytic s and therapies, develop gene therapies and gene editing techniques for in vitro and in vivo studies, develop animal models for studies.
