Who we are and what we do:

The Research & Data Use Analyst contributes to the Research & Data Use Teams mission to conduct essential data support activities to facilitate the departments data-driven decision-making process.

The department is seeking an individual who is skilled in data analytics and statistical programming, as well as passionate about establishing long-term partnerships with program teams to provide data products to support the departments critical initiatives.

Job Overview:

With guidance from the Senior Director of Research & Data Use, the individual will be responsible for providing data support to program teams as requested by conducting in-depth analyses of various datasets and producing high-quality data products. In addition, the individual will complete federal and state reporting assignments and fulfill various data requests the department receives.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Support for Program Teams:

• Support the Senior Director of Research & Data Use in conducting needs assessments with program teams.
• Design wireframes and data cleaning protocols that align with the technical scope of work as needed.
• Conduct necessary data cleaning/analyses and develop data products such as static reports and dashboards.

Annual Reporting:

• Complete recurring state and federal reporting requirements as assigned.

Data Requests:

• Fulfill both internal and external data requests in a timely and accurate manner.

Data Asset Management:

• Conduct in-depth exploratory analyses of assigned datasets from various data sources to identify potential data quality issues and calculate basic summary statistics.
• Establish and maintain detailed documentation on data cleaning protocols and relevant business rules.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in statistics, applied statistics, social or behavioral sciences, health sciences, business, business administration, or public policy and experience equivalent to two years full-time professional work developing research methodology and/or directing statistical research.

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in data cleaning, transformations, analytics, and visualizations to complete moderately complex tasks using R and/or Python is required.
• Experience in interacting with data systems using SQL is required.
• Experience in data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is required.
