Job Description

The Senior System Administrator reports to the Manager of Salesforce Administration. The primary focus of this position is to administer the salesforce.com environment ensuring users have access and training. The Senior System Administrator takes a lead role to maximize our investment in a very large and complex system instances.

The Senior Systems Engineer - OnBase is responsible for the architecture, administration, and continuous improvement of WGU's Hyland OnBase Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform. This role ensures system reliability, scalability, workflow automation, and strong alignment with university business processes that support student and staff experiences. The engineer partners closely with technical teams and university stakeholders to design, implement, and support mission-critical ECM solutions.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • OnBase Platform Administration
  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade OnBase environments (Development, UAT, Production).
  • Manage system performance, security, integrations, and high-availability operations.
  • Oversee application deployments, environment refreshes, patching, and configuration governance.
  • Maintain documentation - including system diagrams, operational procedures, and DR runbooks.
  • Workflow, Forms, and Automation
  • Design, configure, and maintain OnBase Workflows, WorkView applications, Unity Forms, and document processing solutions.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable ECM designs and process automations.
  • Identify opportunities for system optimization, automation, and enhanced user experience.
  • Support & Troubleshooting
  • Serve as the Tier-3 technical expert for advanced OnBase issues and root-cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Hyland support to resolve system defects and integration issues.
  • Support end-user adoption through knowledge sharing, documentation, and training.
  • Collaboration & Leadership
  • Partner with business stakeholders, analysts, PMO, and IT teams to design and deliver high-quality ECM solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and best-practice leadership to junior engineers and peers.
  • Influence architectural decisions, standards, and ECM governance across the department.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of systems engineering or system administration experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on Hyland OnBase administration, including upgrades and workflow development.
  • Strong experience with Windows Server, IIS, Active Directory, DNS, and virtual server environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server and relational database concepts.
  • Experience integrating OnBase with enterprise systems and APIs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.

  • OCSA (Strongly Preferred)
  • OCWA
  • OCASA
  • OCAPI (API/Integration)
  • Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Experience working with APIs (specifically in OnBase)
  • Experience with AWS, Salesforce, Jira, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience working in Agile/SCRUM teams.

Position & Application Details
