Job Summary:

Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCO) is one of the world's largest out-of-home (OOH) advertising companies, having a diverse portfolio of print and digital advertising displays that reach millions of people every month. In the US, Clear Channel Outdoor operates in 44 of the top 50 media markets on over 130,000 displays and features a fast-growing network of over 3,600 digital displays across roadside, transit and airport environments.

CCO Technology, our US business division's IT organization, is seeking an experienced database administrator with strong cloud data engineering skills to join our Production Platform Engineering team. In this role, you will work in close collaboration with the data team and stakeholders to maintain our data platform and deliver data-enabled solutions.
In this role, you will step in as an experienced database administrator to support and maintain existing databases and applications running on Microsoft SQL Server. As our data infrastructure continues to migrate toward modernized data stacks in the cloud, you will play an active part in the migration of build-out of solutions on cloud services.

What you'll do

  • Own and administer Microsoft SQL Server environments, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, performance tuning, indexing strategies, and ongoing health monitoring.
  • Ensure database reliability and availability through backup/recovery strategies, high availability configurations (e.g., Always On), disaster recovery planning, and incident response.
  • Optimize database performance by analyzing execution plans, tuning queries, managing statistics, and proactively identifying bottlenecks across OLTP and analytical workloads.
  • Manage security and compliance including role-based access control, encryption, auditing, and adherence to internal data governance standards.
  • Design and implement data migration strategies to transition workloads from on-prem or MSSQL environments to modern cloud platforms such as Amazon Redshift and S3-based lake architectures.
  • Develop and maintain cloud-native data pipelines, leveraging tools such as dbt, AWS Glue (if applicable), and SQL-based ELT patterns to transform and model data in Redshift and S3 tables.
  • Partner with analytics, BI, and data science teams to design scalable, well-modeled datasets that support reporting, forecasting, and advanced analytics use cases.
  • Participate in data governance and lake management best practices using AWS Lake Formation, including cataloging, fine-grained access control, and metadata management.
  • Contribute to and enhance monitoring, observability, and cost optimization practices across both SQL Server and cloud data platforms to ensure performance, scalability, and efficient resource utilization.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support production systems as needed.
  • Document architecture, standards, and operational procedures while contributing to the long-term strategy of modernizing the organization's data platform.

About you

  • You are passionate about data and enabling business stakeholders with solutions empowered with data.
  • You believe that talent and abilities can be developed through practice and feedback. You proactively explore data and engineering communities for learning opportunities and engage with fellow team members to seek personal and professional growth
  • You leverage AI-assisted development tools and automation thoughtfully to improve productivity and engineering quality.
  • You have demonstrated experience of modernizing legacy systems and driving measurable business impact through improved data platforms. You've worked with numerous database solutions and have worked to modernize a company's core technology to achieve positive business outcomes
  • You are a highly skilled hands-on database administrator with strong data engineering skills, having supported enterprise-class databases, and platforms that are scalable supporting high-volume throughput
  • You function well within a team and enjoy collaborating with others, across disciplines, to deliver results
  • You understand cloud-native services and partner with the engineering team to optimize cloud database solutions.
  • You have experience working within Agile development methodologies and practices (Agile/Scrum, Lean/Kanban, CI/CD) and have participated in team flow and value delivery in previous roles
  • You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with geographically distributed teams
