Position Overview

We are seeking a Material Area Supervisor to lead material flow operations within a high-volume automotive manufacturing plant. This role is responsible for overseeing hourly teams, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of materials to production, and driving performance across safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities



  • Lead and develop hourly teams (18-20 employees) in a union manufacturing environment.
  • Coordinate daily material flow activities to support production schedules.
  • Drive performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and team morale.
  • Implement World Class Manufacturing (WCM) tools to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and ensure proper material handling processes.
  • Partner with leadership and union employees to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Track KPIs, present performance updates, and support continuous improvement initiatives.



Schedule & Work Environment



  • 2nd Shift: 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM
  • Training on 1st Shift (6:30 AM - 3:30 PM) for 2-3 weeks
  • Overtime as needed, including occasional 9-hour shifts and up to two weekends per month
  • Supervisory role (no hands-on forklift operation)



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree required (any field).
  • 1-2 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing, logistics, or union environments is a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable presenting to leadership and managing multiple priorities.
