ABOUT THE ROLE: The Mortgage Banker is responsible for originating mortgage loans by evaluating client financial profiles, recommending suitable loan products, and guiding clients through the loan application and approval process. This role requires strong sales skills, financial knowledge, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:



  • Prospect, develop, and maintain relationships with clients, real estate professionals, builders, and other internal referral partners sources to generate mortgage loan business.
  • Conduct client consultations to assess financial needs, explain loan options, and recommend appropriate mortgage products.
  • Collect and analyze client financial information, including credit reports, income, assets, and debts, to determine loan eligibility.
  • Originate and process mortgage loan applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies, federal/state regulations, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with underwriters, processors, and closing teams to facilitate a smooth and timely loan approval and closing process.
  • Stay informed on market trends, mortgage products, interest rates, and regulatory changes to provide clients with up-to-date advice.
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual loan origination goals.
  • Manage time, workflow and performance based on the market demand for mortgage products.
  • Serve as the primary contact for newer mortgage clients in our community markets, attending external events to build networks, generate contacts, and secure sales referrals.
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to meet client needs.
  • Travel may be required for client meetings or networking events.


WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE:



  • Active NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System) license.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage products, loan underwriting, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FHA, VA, conventional loans, Compliance, Fair Lending rules).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in mortgage loan origination software (e.g., Encompass, Calyx) and CRM tools.
  • Established network of real estate professionals or referral sources.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Knowledge of local housing markets and economic trends.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is typically performed in an office setting. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office utilizing proper ergonomic safeguards when doing so. Additionally, the employee must occasionally lift or move supplies and materials up to 20 pounds.
