Predictive Maintenance Technician
Position Summary:
As Predictive Maintenance Technician supporting our manufacturing client in Savannah, GA you will support the reliability programs that identify and mitigate risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. You will provide technical leadership and expertise in terms of life cycle asset management, implementation, and associated practices, to ensure maximum possible equipment reliability at minimum life cycle cost. You will monitor and evaluate asset/equipment condition, and apply invasive and non-invasive practices/technologies in accordance with the identified asset management plans. Using modern predictive techniques, you will monitor equipment for early signs of deteriorating conditions, provide early prediction and failure analysis, and recommend/direct intervention methods that plan, schedule, and correct the identified deficiencies.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Support the development of equipment system and location hierarchies
- Able to walk down plant systems, create equipment list, critical spares lists, bills of materials, and capture the pertinent data to build/modify CMMS and PdM databases.
- Support criticality analysis activities and assists in determining risk priority numbers for equipment.
- Participate in RCM, sFMEA, RCA, RCFA, activities for systems and equipment.
- Teach and perform precision alignment, balancing, vibration monitoring, oil sampling, thickness measurement, thermography, and other practices leading to the reliable life of equipment.
- Develop equipment Predictive/Preventative Maintenance plans that contain failure modes mapped to technologies or tasks.
- Lead preventative/condition-based maintenance. Support all Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) activities.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in predictive maintenance/reliability technician related processes.
- Have multiple certifications/training in predictive technologies and be a level 2 in at least one of them. Be willing to continually pursue knowledge and certifications in reliability and predictive technologies.
- Have practical experience in the application and interpretation of multiple predictive/ preventative technologies/tools:
- Vibration analysis
- Thermography: Mechanical, Electrical
- Ultrasonic Thickness, Ultrasonic Noise: Mechanical, Electrical, Air
- Lubrication Sampling and Analysis
- Power/Motor Circuit Analysis
- Machine Alignment and Balancing
- Competent in one or more areas of maintenance and reliability, material management, planning and scheduling, and/or CMMS / EAM / ERP optimization.
- Understand risk based asset management, and use reliability data analysis techniques and metrics like MTBF, MTTR, OEE, Six Sigma, SPC, etc.
- Be a team player that champions and supports the reliability process, and is able to communicate and build relationships with various functional, engineering, and business leaders in order to support continuous improvement.
- Be accountable and demonstrate leadership in implementing reliability technician processes of the asset management plans.
- Must have demonstrated effective communication skills and practices, and have experience with office and reliability productivity tools.
- Must be able to perform generic problem solving and in particular RCA.
- Must have a strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.
- Have a knowledge of equipment design, service, operation, purchase, assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Must have an understanding of Asset Management and its various components and organization.
- Be able to build relationships with various functional, engineering, and business leaders in order to drive continuous improvement and project development.
- Ability to communicate/teach/mentor best practice condition monitoring and precision methods.
- Willing to challenge peers and customers to accept and apply new approaches and technologies.
- Self-starter, capable of managing multiple priorities with minimal oversight, working as a single entity with the ability to influence others to gain alignment.
Physical Demands and Expectations:
- Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
- Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
- Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
