Job Description
THE ROLE: Director, Data & Technology Operations, Music 360 Overview The Director, Data & Technology Operations - Music 360 supports A+E Global Media's Music 360 organization by building and maintaining scalable data and workflow solutions that improve music and secondary rights metadata integrity, cue sheet accuracy, registration quality, revenue tracking, and reporting across platforms. This role blends hands-on data engineering with operational ownership, serving as a connector between technical systems and rights operations. It plays a key role in managing and evolving how Music 360 tracks and monetizes both music and secondary rights assets, ensures accurate registration across all relevant entities, and drives automation and analytics that support scalable growth. This role contributes to the development and execution of Music 360's data and technology priorities, ensuring alignment between day-to-day operations, evolving monetization requirements, and A+E's broader technology environment. A core responsibility is to support end-to-end asset lifecycle solutions, from initial requisition through registration and ongoing monetization-both in current workflows and future-state systems. This includes managing registration data across all external rights organizations and partners, including Performance Rights Organizations (PROs), Collective Management Organizations (CMOs), and global administration partners. The position is also responsible for identifying opportunities to streamline operational processes and workflows, reduce manual work, and improve transparency across systems and teams. The role also supports special initiatives and cross-functional projects as assigned by the VP of Music 360 or other senior leadership. MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU'LL DO: Data Engineering & Analytics Foundations
Build and maintain curated datasets in Snowflake (or equivalent systems) that support operational tracking, reporting, and audit workflows across Music 360 Experience working with cloud-native data architectures using AWS (S3, Glue, Lambda preferred) Develop reusable transformation logic (tables, views, and data models) that standardizes key concepts-such as works, recordings, usages, registrations, partners, and financial signals-so reporting is consistent and comparable Implement practical data quality checks (validation rules, exception outputs, reconciliation logic) to strengthen trust in downstream analytics and dashboards Establish and maintain data standards and quality controls for Music 360 systems to reduce risk and support consistent reporting
External + Internal Data Integration
Ingest and normalize data from external rights and revenue partners (including PROs such as ASCAP/BMI, publishers, platforms, and usage/royalty vendors), and align it with internal identifiers and systems for analytics and reconciliation Hands-on experience with Snowflake (data modeling, performance tuning, secure data sharing) Support partner-facing data workflows by helping structure outbound data, monitoring delivery outcomes, and troubleshooting common issues (e.g., mismatched identifiers, incomplete metadata, unexpected rejections) Maintain traceability from raw sources through curated outputs so that questions about revenue, registrations, and usage can be answered with clear supporting detail Monitor industry and platform changes that impact data requirements and adjust workflows and infrastructure accordingly
Operational Workflow Support & Continuous Improvement
Partner with Music 360 stakeholders to support cue sheet and metadata operations by developing tools, processes, and data views that reduce manual work and improve accuracy Assist with operational audits and reconciliations (e.g., cue sheet quality checks, missing usage, unexpected variances) by creating repeatable queries, exception reporting, and investigation-ready outputs Contribute to documentation and runbooks for recurring workflows to improve consistency, onboarding, and continuity Prioritize initiatives within the function to balance operational stability with continuous improvement efforts Manages and oversees operational staff responsible for cue sheet processing and registration deliverables, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to Music 360 data quality standards
Automation, Reporting & Scalable Outputs
Develop and maintain automation that supports Music 360 workflows, using tools such as Power Automate, APIs, and AI-assisted tools (e.g., ChatGPT) where appropriate and controlled Create and support dashboards and recurring reporting outputs that provide visibility into operational KPIs and risk areas (e.g., exceptions, partner delivery health, registration status, revenue/royalty signals) Support ad hoc analysis requests by producing clear, well-documented outputs that can be reused where patterns emerge Define and track functional performance metrics to support informed decision-making within Music 360
Metadata Unification Across Systems
Help unify music metadata across internal platforms (e.g., Soundmouse, SourceAudio, Dalet Flex, Music Maestro, Global Content Sales, and related tools) by supporting identifier mapping, normalization, and consistent definitions Contribute to the ongoing improvement of data structures that enable more reliable joins, fewer manual lookups, and clearer cross-system reporting Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment of data definitions and processes within Music 360 and related teams
Modernization & Maintainability
Help transition legacy datasets and processes into scalable patterns centered on Snowflake (or alternative systems), including validation plans and post-change monitoring Support governance basics-documentation, definitions, data lineage, and lightweight access/usage guidelines-so solutions remain usable and maintainable over time Collaborate with internal technical partners to align Music 360 data needs with broader standards and platform capabilities Provide recommendations to the VP of Music 360 regarding technology enhancements and workflow improvements based on operational insights
Success in This Role Looks Like
More consistent, trusted datasets supporting both operational tracking and analytics External partner data integrated and aligned with internal systems in ways that support auditability and revenue tracking Reduced manual work through repeatable transformations, exception reporting, and workflow automation Faster detection and resolution of metadata, cue sheet, registration, and royalty/revenue discrepancies Clear documentation and operational support that helps the broader music team work more efficiently and confidently A well-structured and sustainable data function that supports Music 360's growth objectives
