Overview The Head Tennis Professional is the senior on-court leader for the Club's tennis program and a highly visible presence within the member community. This role is responsible for the daily quality, consistency, and execution of tennis instruction, programming, court experience, and staff leadership.This is not just a teaching role. It is a leadership role built around presence, standards, and follow-through. The Head Tennis Professional sets the tone on court, coaches and develops the professional staff, drives participation through strong programming, and ensures the tennis experience feels organized, welcoming, and elevated at every touchpoint. Success in this role looks like a tennis program that runs clean and confidently, members who feel known and engaged, a professional staff that is coached and accountable, and courts that reflect the level of service expected in a luxury club and resort setting. Essential Responsibilities Member Experience & Engagement * Serve as a senior point of contact for tennis members and resort guests - build strong relationships, anticipate preferences, and create a court experience that feels personal and well-run. * Deliver a polished and welcoming presence on court. Members should feel recognized, supported, and confident in the quality of instruction, programming, and communication. * Handle member concerns, scheduling issues, and service recovery with professionalism and speed. Solve problems directly and close the loop. * Support new member integration into the tennis community through lessons, program recommendations, introductions, and regular follow-up. * Maintain a visible presence during peak programming hours, league play, clinics, and club events. Tennis Instruction & Program Leadership * Deliver high-level private, semi-private, and group instruction for adult and junior players across a range of abilities. * Lead and execute the Club's core tennis programming, including private lessons, clinics, drill sessions, LiveBall or high-energy formats, camps, social play, leagues, round robins, mixers, and tournaments. * Maintain consistent instructional standards across the department so members receive a strong, professional experience regardless of coach or format. * Evaluate participation trends, court demand, and player needs to help shape the weekly and seasonal programming calendar. * Support signature events, member tournaments, interclub play, and resort-related tennis programming as directed. Staff Leadership & Court Standards * Provide daily leadership to Assistant and Associate Tennis Professionals, setting expectations for professionalism, punctuality, teaching standards, court demeanor, and member interaction. * Coach in real time. Reinforce what good looks like and address misses immediately. * Assist with onboarding, training, mentorship, and ongoing development of tennis staff. * Partner with the Director of Racquet Sports on staffing coverage, lesson assignments, court schedules, and overall program readiness. * Help create a team culture that is warm, accountable, energetic, and member-centered. Operations & Administrative Discipline * Oversee the daily administrative flow of the tennis operation in partnership with the Director of Racquet Sports. * Ensure accurate lesson billing, program enrollment, attendance tracking, court assignments, and revenue capture. * Maintain organized records related to lessons, clinics, player development, staff schedules, and program participation. * Monitor court usage, lesson volume, and program performance to support sound operational decisions and financial accountability. * Ensure courts, teaching equipment, and surrounding areas are clean, organized, properly set, and presentation-ready at all times. Programming, Promotion & Club Collaboration * Partner with Marketing on calendars, flyers, promotional language, and timely communication of tennis programming and events. * Collaborate with Membership to support prospective member tours, trial experiences, onboarding, and tennis-related retention efforts. * Work cross-functionally with Club leadership to ensure the tennis program contributes to the broader member experience and aligns with club standards. * Support a thoughtful blend of competitive, social, and developmental programming that strengthens participation and builds community Qualifications * Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience in a high-level tennis, private club, or hospitality environment. * Minimum 4-6 years of progressive teaching and program leadership experience in a private club, resort, academy, or similarly service-driven racquets environment. * Strong background in adult and junior instruction, clinic design, and tennis event execution. * Demonstrated ability to lead other professionals, uphold standards, and operate effectively in a member-facing environment. * Strong administrative skills with the ability to manage billing, scheduling, enrollment, and program details with accuracy. * Clear communicator with strong interpersonal instincts and a polished on-court presence. * Must be dependable, organized, service-minded, and comfortable working in a fast-moving luxury club setting. Required Certifications * USPTA or PTR Professional Certification * USTA Safe Play approval * CPR / AED / First Aid Certification Preferred * Experience in a private club or luxury resort environment * Experience with junior pathway development and member event programming * Pickleball certification or working knowledge of broader racquet sports programming Compensation Salary Range: $75,000.00 - $75,000.00 Annually Tipped/Service Charge Eligible?
