The Department of Biology is looking for a student to work in Dr. Sungs's lab with single-nucleus RNA sequencing and working with 217,169 cochlear cells from a multi-cycle cisplatin ototoxicity mouse models. Will need to be able to characterize transcriptional dynamics across five blood-labyrinth barrier (BLB) cell types at seven timepoints and extract cell-type-specific mechanism from high-dimensional transcriptomic data, to situate computational findings within a rigorous literature framework, and to present emergent hypotheses like the cisplatin-induced HIF-1-to-HIF-3 switch at weekly PI meetings with mechanistic precision.
