| Position Summary |
This position will conduct mammalian cell culture and analysis as well as contribute to the development of the experimental process and will perform new studies on cell cultures in collaboration with postdocs and other students.
This role will be a key driver in advancing our biomedical research frontier by optimizing complex mammalian and stem cell systems. Their expertise in extracellular vesicle isolation and analysis won't just support the team-it will directly accelerate our ability to translate cellular insights into life-changing therapeutic breakthroughs. |
| Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- Experience in research experimental design, mammalian cell culture, immune cell analysis and exosome characterization
- Experience in biological science, cell culture techniques, and an interest in advancing biomedical research
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, statistical programs and document management.

Research Study Design and Implementation
- Design experimental protocols, methodologies, and approaches to address current laboratory objectives.
- Contribute to the generation of grant application and literature publications
- Collaborate with researchers to implement and troubleshoot experiments.
Lab Management
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Order and manage supplies and reagents to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Coordinate with vendors for equipment servicing and maintenance.
Training and Supervision
- Train undergraduate and graduate students, as well as visiting scientists, in laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
- Provide guidance and support to lab members as needed

Mammalian Cell Culture
- Maintain and propagate mammalian cell lines.
- Collect, purify and characterize exosomes from stem cells
- Execute experiments involving cell-based assays and treatments.
Stem Cell Culture
- Cultivate and expand stem cell lines under sterile conditions.
- Differentiate stem cells into specific lineages as required.
Extracellular Vesicle Isolation and Analysis
- Isolate extracellular vesicles from cell culture supernatants or biological fluids.
- Perform characterization assays such as nanoparticle tracking characterization analysis and Western blotting.
Record Keeping and Analysis of Assay Data
- Maintain meticulous records of experimental protocols, data, and results.
- Ensure UGA compliance with lab protocols and safety standards.
- Statistically analyze and summarize data in scientific acceptable formats such as graph images and other forms
